Chapter 14 - The Engagement Party

The party has started. Erik and Roan are inside together with their families. Most of the guests arrived yesterday and earlier today. It is an intimate event only selected family and friends were invited. For security reasons aside from Erik wanted it to be intimate and not a circus. 

He approved one station to cover it but he will have a say with the final video to be featured in a home and entertainment show.

Erik’s mom Elena and the President, Enrique his dad were talking to Roan’s parents.

“I’m happy that Roan will be a part of our family soon.” The President Enrique Rodriguez said to Roan’s father and mother.

“Salamat naman po Mr. President para sa pag-accept sa aming anak. Parang anak na rin namin si Erik.” Mr. Sanchez, Roan’s father said.

The First Lady Elena smiled and said:

“Oo nga, si Roan ang nagbago kay Erik for that we thank her. And we see how they really love each other.”

“Oo nga, pero di pa rin kami makapaniwala na magpapakasal sila. Baby pa rin namin yan si Roan.” Mrs. Sanchez replied to the first lady.

They laughed as they looked at Erik and Roan entertaining their guests.

Suddenly the President whispered something to the first lady asking her to call Erik and Roan near them so they can formally announce their engagement.

Erik was looking at them so he saw his mom gestured them near them.

Erik told Roan they have to go and excused themselves to the guests they were talking to. They walked towards where their parents are.

The President gave a short speech welcoming everybody for tonight.

He ended it with...“We are happy to share with everyone that – Erik and Roan are engaged! Their wedding date will be shared as soon as it is finalized! For now, we welcome Roan in our family and we want to thank you..” looks at Roan and smiled “for loving our son.”

“Congratulations Erik and Roan! ” he hugged the two and raised his glass of wine to everybody and said “Cheers!”

Everybody replied with “cheers” and everyone clapped.

They were happy to see Erik and Roan happy. Not everyone, two weren’t as happy as everyone else.

Cassandra and Matthew were standing among the visitors who said cheers to the engagement.

Cassandra arched her eyebrows and pouted her lips. She thought how cheap she looks on that gown. However expensive her gown is she still looks cheap.

“She looks like Erik’s maid! She still can’t understand what it is that he saw in her!” she thought.
