Chapter 35 - After the Show

The fashion show was over, everybody loved it. Monique was proud of her. All the models had a photo shoot afterwards, Matthew was still there, among the photographers.

Erik saw Matthew. Matthew didn’t see him yet, he was too busy taking pictures.

After the photo shoot, Matthew asked Roan if he can talk to her. Roan decided she will face him once and for all, she came to New York not expecting to forgive anybody but she thought how she can fully move on if she continues to carry the grudge against other people who hurt her in the past.

“Hi Roan, you look amazing! I didn’t recognize you at first...congratulations!” Matthew said with obvious admiration.

“Thanks, Matthew!” Roan smiling at him…“I thought you’re still in Manila.”

“I came back here a few months back. I missed the States,” Matthew is still smitten with Roan’s beauty. 

He apologized to her again and she accepted it. 

She told him she has to go, Matthew then saw Erik and went to him, offered his hands.

“Sorry ulit bro. I hope this time matuloy na wedding ninyo. I will be very happy for both of you,” Matthew added.

“Thanks Matt, pasensya ka na rin. Time heals, I’m glad we all moved on. Hopefully…magdilang angel ka pare.”

They parted ways, Matthew said goodbye to them. 

Erik took Roan’s hand and guided her inside the limo waiting outside. Tonight there is a party still sponsored by Mercedes Benz, Roan isn’t sure she wanted to attend. She just wanted to rest.

Erik asked her if she wants to eat something before heading back, Roan shook her head

“I’m okay, I’d rather rest a bit at the hotel.”

“Sige, I’m sure you’re tired. I’ll take you back but just let me know if you want to go to the party or I can take you to dinner later, if you want.”

“Thanks Erik, I really appreciate it. Sure I will see how I feel later.”  

They were at the hotel. Erik helped Roan out as she was clutching the length of her gown. She looked absolutely stunning. Erik can’t seem to take his eyes off her.  

“I’ll accompany you back to your room,” he said to her, then he asked her if she is ready to have a serious talk with him.”  

Roan said she was still tired, but promised to meet him tomorrow – she told him of her plans to tour the city. Erik agreed to be her guide. He said he’ll meet her for breakfast and they can start exploring the city.  

Erik took her hand and kissed it. He then said goodnight.  

Roan said “ Good night, too.”  

She was closing her door, when Erik appeared on her door again.   “Oh, I forgot something warden.”

“What is it….?    

He took two steps and was in front of her again – he was handing her a ring.  

“Why are you giving it back ?” she asked.  

“It belongs to you, Roan. Here…when you’re ready, please wear it again.”  

It was the engagement ring she returned to him when they broke up.  

Before Roan could answer, Erik already left, the ring still on her hand.

Roan thought…“Was that his way of proposing again?! Subtle – smooth operator.” she smiled and looked at the ring.

She puts it away in her jewelry box. She didn’t want to lose the ring.
