Saying Goodbye

It was silent the next morning as my mom and I left for the train station. I didn't feel like talking, because I knew if I opened my mouth, I'd start to cry.

20 minutes later, we stepped out of the car and were greeted by the Roberts. To my surprise, Drew was standing up and walking. I gasped and hurried towards him. "Drew, what are you doing out of your wheelchair?" I asked as he swung me into his arms. I buried my face in his chest and inhaled his scent. "Are you kidding me? There is no way in hell that I'd be caught dead in a wheelchair." he said. I giggled and wrapped my arms around him. "There are presents in your room for you," he whispered into my ear before releasing me. I nodded, and felt my eyes fill with tears. He smiled weakly before pulling me into him again. "It's always going to be you and me, baby girl. Us against the world. I choose you, and I'll keep on choosing you. I'll choose you over and over again without a pause, and I'll always choose you in a heartbeat, okay?" he said, his own voice breaking with emotion. I swallowed hard as tears trailed down my face. "This isn't goodbye, right?" I replied biting my lip. He pulled away, but kept his hands on my shoulders. I could see the doubt in his eyes, and I closed my own. Sighing, he pulled me into him again, hugging me tightly. "I'm still your best friend, and you'll always be mine." he said softly. I sniffed, but nodded against his chest. I pulled away just enough so I could look up into his eyes. "W...what about me? What am I supposed to do?" I whispered. He swallowed, and I noticed his cheeks were wet too. "There's so much to say, but I've gotta do what's best for me, you'll be okay," he said letting go of me. I watched as he slowly started to walk away when I shook my head frantically. From behind, a strong pair of arms wrapped around me, and I knew, without looking, that it was Tyler. "Drew!" I scream-sobbed. Drew paused and turned to me, opening his arms again. I sprinted towards him and ran into his arms. I sobbed against his chest, until Tyler eventually pulled me away. "I love you," I whispered through my tears. Drew didn't meet my eyes, and I knew it was because it hurt too much. "I've got to leave but I'll miss you," he said, kissing my cheek gently. This time, when he turned away, he didn't look back and I turned to bury my face in Ty's chest. Ty wrapped his arms around me, pulling me into him gently. I closed my eyes and let myself cry. "This isn't your last goodbye, I promise." he whispered

My mom had to go to work, so Ty took me home. The car ride was silent, until we pulled into my driveway. Cutting the engine, Ty turned to me. His mouth opened, but I didn't let him get far. "Don't," I whispered putting my hand up to stop him. "I just....I just need to be alone for a while." I said, my voice breaking again. He nodded and waited for me to open the door. I forced a smile and leaned over to kiss his cheek. As I climbed out, and started towards the doors, Ty called my name. I hurried over to his window and leaned down. He raised his head, and kissed me gently. Smiling against his mouth, I closed my eyes. This was the one thing I was sure of right now. When we pulled away, he was smiling too. "I'll call you," I promised. Ty nodded and ran his fingers through his hair. I hurried up the front steps and into my house. Taking a deep breath, I looked around before hurrying upstairs.
