chapter eight

Ryland's POV

{Junior Year}

I Shane - 16 I Ryland - 16 I

Lisa and I have been dating now for nine months, and I'm surprised we even lasted this long. She's gotten more bratty and more rude as we progressed, and I just act like nothing happens.

"Ryland! Come to my house tonight! We're going to have little get together." Joey yelled out as he ran from his locker to mine. 

"Of course, who's going to be there?" I asked, putting my history book back into my locker and grabbing my math one.

"Daniel, Ricky, Shane, Elle, and Blair which is Elle's best friend." Joey informed me. "If you want to bring Lisa you can if you want to."

"Actually, I loved to go!" Lisa said as she wrapped her arm around my waist. 

I mentally rolled my eyes but I fake smiled so she wouldn't be upset with me. I walked her to her next class and kissed her forehead before finally parting from her. I headed to my class and sat in my seat which was next to Shane. He smiled at me before poking me in the side as I jumped up from my seat. 

"Hey, can we maybe ditch the get together? We could maybe have a just us night like we did back in our old days..." Shane whispered into my ear. 

"Yeah, I'd love to."

"You know this is pretty fucked up now that I think about it. Lisa and Elle are going to arrive and we're not going to even be there." I said, as we walked down the sidewalk that lead to our milkshake shop.

"Oops. Besides, I needed a break from Elle. She's been a bit more bossy and she's get annoying at times." Shane said, opening the door for me. 

"Lisa got more mean though, it's like she changed drastically over the summer." I said as we waited in line to order. 

"Oh well, it's probably just a phase for the girls. Maybe it's that time of the month you know?" Shane said.

I shrugged as we then order our milkshakes. We sat down and started to just talk about the random shit. Our laughs filled the room and honestly I've never be more happy that in this moment.  We finished our drinks as he took my hand and we ran through the door of the shop.

We ran down the sidewalk and we walked into the little shops that were all in one little plaza. We played around the shops and we even got kicked out of some of them but at least we had fun. We then went into a little jewelry store. They had some many cute things and Shane actually paid attention to everything.

"Come here, Ry." Shane whispered as I went over to him. 

He looked at me and then look back down at the glass case that held necklaces. He nodded at the old lady and the lady went to go grab it. She brought it out of it's case and handed it to Shane. Shane then turned me around and put it around my neck.

 I got a glance at the necklace and it had a square silver rectangle with a little R on it. I turned once it was on and Shane smiled at me. He took it off and nodded at the lady, telling her that he wanted it. Shane pulled out his wallet and began to grab out money when the lady stopped him. 

"Just take it. It's practically made for him." The lady said, smiling at the both of us. 

"Thank you so much. I appreciate that." Shane said, grabbing the necklace and putting it back on me.

We walked out the shop but we bumped into a group of friends. I looked up at it was Elle, Lisa, and Blair. Shane and I exchanged looks before Shane then went to his girlfriend and hugged her. Lisa looked obviously pissed as she just rolled her eyes at me. She then got one look at my neck and her eyes widened. 

"We've got to go." Lisa blurted, pulling on my arm and making me follow her. 

We walked in silence until she finally spoke up. 

"You know, I don't think we should really hang out with Shane and Elle anymore." Lisa said, holding onto my hand. 

"Wait what? Why not? They're my friends, especially Shane." I said, pulling my hand from hers. 

"I know! I think we should just have more alone time! You're always so close to Shane, and you never pay attention to your own damn girlfriend!" Lisa shouted, throwing her hands up in the air in frustration. "Either it's them or you lose me!" 

"Fine then, I choose them." I said, pushing past her and walking home.
