Shane was released a week ago, and he's been staying with me. The first few days were hard since he didn't know me very well, and he was expected to live with me. He didn't talk a lot but slowly he came out of his comfort zone and became more active with me. He'd even let me tell him stories about high school, though I left out our 'things' that happened.

"This is a picture that I took of you when you made your first slam dunk in the court. Everyone went wild, and I'll never forget the smile you had on your face." I said, showing him more pictures of himself.

"Who's this?" He asked, pulling out a picture of him and Elle when they were one year in and walking down the sidewalk.

"Ah, that's Elle. We're still friends with her though she lives in Sacramento to do some work out there. You two broke up around senior year." I answered him, as he just nodded in response.

"I've had a fun life for what it seems, I just wish I could remember it." He frowned, I pulled him in for a hug and he instantly wrapped his arms around me. I cradled him in my arms as he pondered into his own mind.

"Keep trying to remember, I know you can I believe in you." I whispered to him, as he just nodded and didn't say anything else.

This was the typical Shane that I got daily. He would get comfortable then he would go back to the timid boy he was. He then suddenly got up and picked up the ring again, as he sat down on the floor with his legs crossed. I didn't react as I didn't want him to suspect anything, as it was too early in the game to tell him about us.

"This ring is beautiful, whoever you're planning to marry is a lucky person." He smiled, as he handed me the ring back.

"Yeah, I think I want you too keep though." I said, taking my necklace off of my neck that my parents gave me for my eighteenth birthday. I slid the charm off and slid the ring through and put the necklace around Shane's neck and locking it. "There you go, it's yours now."

"Are you sure? This seems like a lot to just hand to someone that's just your friend when you can give it to the love of your life...." He spoke, as he came back up on the couch.

This was the problem. He was and is the love of my life, yet he just saw it as friends. It made my heart hurt when he would call me his best friend, because I didn't want to be friends. I did that for four years and I never wanted to relive that ever again yet one accident ruins that and destroys everything you build.

There was then suddenly a knock on the door and Shane hid underneath the covers and giggled. I chuckled to myself before going to the door and opening it up. I looked into the eyes of a light green eyed boy with his perfectly styled brown hair. He smiled widely as he pulled me into a hug instantly, as I just tapped on his back.

"Joey, it's been years. How do you even know where I live?" I asked, scratching the back of my neck.

"Ah, I asked Garrett. I tried to come earlier when I found out about Shane, but work was in the way." He said, as he looked off to the side and he smiled. "Are you going to allow me in or no?"

I shook my head and let him through the doorway, and he smiled when he saw Shane sitting there, fiddling of course with the ring necklace. Shane's eyes darted to Joey as he then looked at me, wanting me to give him the basic information about the new figure to him that was in his home.

"Shane, This is Joey. He's was one of my high school friends, and you knew him pretty well." I informed him, and he just nodded. "Um, yeah I don't really know what else to say."

"Well, then let's go get some ice cream from the ice cream shop down the street. We can then walk around the park after that and catch up?" Joey asked, and of course Shane agreed right away and he went to get change.

He came back out with a black shirt, skinny ripped blue jeans, and white vans. Basic, but adorable let me tell you. We all got in the car and drove down to the shop that was inside of a little plaza and the big park was across the street. Shane sat down in a chair as he just asked for a classic chocolate ice cream cone. I ordered him one as I ordered me a classic vanilla cone.

We all walked out the store and outside to the public. We walked down the sidewalk, Joey and I started to talk to one another and Shane was engrossed at not stepping one the cracks of the sidewalk, stupid yet cute. Suddenly, he was bumped into by someone that was running backwards, fun but stupid. His ice cream was splattered all over him but luckily his shirt was black so it wasn't really all the noticeable.

"Oh my- I'm so sorry. Here let me get you some towel." The man said as he ran over to his friend that was riding a bike down the street. He helped Shane clean his shirt off just a bit before smiling at him, and of course Shane returned the smile.

"I'm Blake. Again, I'm so sorry I should have watched here I was going and I-" Shane then interrupted him by placing his finger over his lips, sending Blake to smile.

"It's fine, Blake. One day you'll have repay me with another ice cream cone." Shane said, as Blake just chuckled and nodded.

Blake was one of those guys that you'd see on a magazine. He was taller than Shane by just maybe 2 inches and he was muscular. He had gray/blue eyes, brown hair, and amazing facial structure. He even had a tattoo of a rose on his left wrist, which just complimented him.

"See you again, auburn boy." He said before taking off again with his friend.

This seemed all too familiar.
