Ryland's POV
                              {Senior Year}
                              I Shane - 18 I Ryland - 17 I
                              Everything was good now.
I apologized to Elle, she accepted thankfully. Her and Shane became friends again at least, and we hang out in separate groups now. Shane and I were becoming closer like we were before, and I've never been more happier.
He stays over a lot now, and he pays more attention to me. He protects me, cares for me, and treats me well. I don't know if he's doing it to make it up to me or just doing it just because he wants to.
You can't really tell anything from that boy.
"Hey Ry, which one do you prefer?" Shane asked me, holding up two button ups. I pointed towards the left one, which was light blue, but he could rock anything he wore honestly.
He took his shirt off, and then put on the button up. Shane then suddenly turned around and he looked really cute. He wore the light blue button up with the sleeves rolled up to top of his forearm, plain black skinny jeans, and classic white shoes to go along with it.
"You look too good for just a fun time at the plaza." I said, rolling my eyes in a joking manner.
"Ah, you jealous that someone will be looking at how stunning I am?" He joked back at me.
"Yes, actually. What if they steal you, and you forget all about me?" I pouted, crossing my arms.
"Aw Ry, I could never forget about you." Shane said, coming closer to me and rubbing my arms with his tiny, soft hands. "You're my best friend."
                              Best Friend.
Hey, at least it's not just friend.
                              I hate that word.
"Besides, maybe you'll catch a man tonight. You look fabulous yourself." He admitted, smiling at me.
How? I was just wearing white short-sleeved button up with dark blue skinny jeans, and some casual black shoes. He found that fabulous? He really has serious problems about finding people attractive or not.
                              He was probably joking anyways.
I grabbed my car keys, and grabbed Shane's hand. I pulled him down the staircase, outside, and then leading him to the car. We both got in the car, and I drove off. Shane kept jamming out to his type of music, which I didn't quite understand all too much but oh well.
We arrived to the cute little plaza in ten minutes. It was night time, so all the lights were on. The plaza was beautiful and walking through it made you feel like you were in a wonderland. Shane grabbed me by my shoulders, pushing me gently into a small little restaurant that was in the corner.
The restaurant looked absolutely aesthetic, and they served pasta and sandwiches. Shane and I ordered the same thing of regular pasta bowls with half-sandwiches. Shane and I both got a cup of water and sat down next to the window. Once our food came, we talked and talked and talked for god knows how long.
It was all about the random shit too. It was beyond the lines of homework exist, then to why we exist, and then to if we were even real or not. If not, then what the fuck are we? Are we some simulation or a hologram? Surprisingly, that's not the craziest we've talked about.
We then left the little restaurant and walked around the plaza. The plaza was huge, and it could take about maybe three hours to walk through if you went into every single store that was inside of it.  Shane just messed with everything either knocking it over, or dropping it on the floor, He's such a dork sometimes.
                              But he's my dork.
"Can we got get yogurt?" Shane pleaded, pointing towards the yogurt shop.
"We just ate, Shane. You're already hungry already?" I asked him.
"Are you fat shaming right now, because if so I'm not up for your rudeness." Shane sassed at me, placing his hands on his hips.
I rolled my eyes before making my way to the shop. We entered in and the whole placed smell really good. Shane paid for my little cup of yogurt and he bought himself a slightly larger cup than mine. Of course, we both got the regular vanilla along with some toppings and sat down on the cute little chairs they had.
We talked, joked, laughed, smiled with one another. We both fell silent after Shane expressed a laugh to one of my jokes. He looked down to his yogurt before looking up at me with his bright green eyes. I admired him and his marvelous beauty.
"I love you." I blurted,  definitely not in the right state of mind.
"You love me?" Shane questioned, tilting his head. I nodded in response as he face read completely confused.
"Wait-Was this a date?" He then questioned me again, taken back a little. "Did you seriously try to take me on a date?"
"Shane, no. It's not like that." I said, trying to calm myself a bit. "Look, I love you. I love you so much more than just a friend. I'm tired of you just running away from me."
Shane fell silent as he just stared at me.
"I think you should move on, Ryland." Shane said, getting up from his chair. "I-I'm sorry I just can't be with you."
He then pushed his chair in, and exited the shop. I heard the bell ring behind him and I saw him walk down the little sidewalk. I wasn't just going to stand here and feel pity for myself. No, I was going to at least fight for him. I ran out of the shop, catching up to him, and pulling his arm to stop him.
"Shane, please. Why can't you be with me?" I asked him, trying to not let my voice crack.
"Ry, I-I don't love you." Shane stated, looking me dead in the eyes. "Not in the same way you love me at least."
                              My heart broke.
                              He didn't love me.
                              Of course,
                              He's straight.
He started to walk away again, and I felt sadness rush through me. I clenched my fists as I watched Shane continue to walk farther and farther away from me.
"At least I know that I tried everything that I could do to have you stay with me! I've tried so fucking hard these past four years and yet you're still so fucking blind!" I yelled at him, catching his attention and having him stop.
He stood there for a second, before swiftly turning around. He was only a couple of feet away but there was something that fell down his cheek. He was crying, he was hurt. Did I hurt him? I was taken out of my thoughts when I heard his voice.
"I know, Ryland. I know these past years you've loved me." Shane admitted. "And I wish I loved you the same way you loved me."
"You'll find a way." I blurted at him, before letting him walk away into the darkness of the night.
