Ryland's POV
{Junior Year}
I Shane - 16 I Ryland - 16 I
Shane had came over everyday for the past week, and stayed the night. His parents didn't mind at all since they had his little brothers to worry about. My parents absolutely loved Shane so they didn't mind either. We sat at the table as Shane worked on his essay and I just watched random TV shows.
Shane was wearing his reading glass, he actually looked so cute in them. He thought he looked like a complete dork, but if only he knew his true beauty. He would glance at his paper which laid flat on the table, reading it softly to himself, and then transfer it onto his computer.
"You know, the paper is due Monday. You literally have four days to work on it." I said, slightly smiling at him.
"Mhm, I know. I just really want this paper to be good or else Mrs.Goodman will decapitate me." He said, laughing at his own words.
"Oh whatever, she loves your work. Your essay could be the shittiest thing ever and she would still give you an A." I sassed, squinting my eyes at him.
"Oh well, I guess everyone just loves me don't they?" Shane said, winking at me.
I rolled my eyes at him, and he just scoffed at me. I got from the table and headed to living room. I plopped down onto it and started to go through multiple channels, trying to find something decent to watch. I groaned as I couldn't find anything.
Shane's phone went off and on the coffee table. Shane jumped over the couch and landed right next to me. He grabbed his phone and I saw the caller. It was Elle. Shane sighed, and answered the phone. He then smiled at me before getting up and going up the stairs. I decided to be nosy and follow him.
I heard his voice faintly in my bedroom as I stood behind the doorway. I could tell by his voice he was a bit upset but also a bit angry. I put my ear up against the door and I could hear every word that Shane was saying to Elle.
"Elle, I'm sorry but I can't go."
"I'm busy with some family things."
"I'll come next time."
"Are you kidding me? You're being so childish."
"Whatever Elle, I'm not in the mood to argue with you."
"Just stop! You've been such a brat lately, and I'm getting sick and tired of the same bullshit."
"First of all, it's you who starts all the fights! I'm done playing this stupid little game with you!"
"Maybe we need a break."
"You heard me, Elle. I need a break."
"I've got to go, bye."
I heard him sigh and I heard the bed creak just a bit, signaling he must be sitting on it. I opened up the door and I saw his back was towards me. His head was in his hands and I heard faint little sobs escape his lips. I sat down next to him as he leaned into me and hugged me as tight as he could.
"Listen, it's going to be fine. You'll get back together and you two will be back on where you left off but better." I said, rubbing his back as he sobbed into my chest.
"No, I just...I want someone to love me to a point where it's so indescribable to put it into words. I want someone to hold me and stay with me til death do us part." He said, leaning his head down onto my shoulder. "I just want to be loved correctly."
I pulled him off of my shoulder and he looked at me with sad eyes. They were red, and tears were still falling. I wiped them away with my thumb, and caressed his cheek. I smiled weakly at him and he smiled back at me. I wrapped my arms around his waist and he did the same to mine.
I felt my heart skip multiple beats, but I made a move that I'd never thought I would make. I collided our lips together as he jumped at the sudden movement. He was hesitant but he slowly kissed me back. I deepened our kiss as I moved my hands up to his neck, pulling him closer. He then suddenly pushed me away and wiped his lips with his hand.
"W-Why would you d-do that?" He said, out of breathe and in disbelief.
"I-I don't know. I just was in the moment, a-and I thought it was a good idea." I said, trying not to sound hurt.
"Well it wasn't! Ryland, you're suppose to be my friend!" He yelled, getting up off the bed. "Friends don't kiss each other Ryland! God, I knew you were gay but hell don't make a move on me!"
"You kissed back! Don't even deny it, because we both know you did!" I shouted back at him.
"I'm in a vulnerable state right now! I would have kissed anyone after what just happened with Elle!" He yelled back at me, crossing his arms.
"All you care about it Elle! That girl doesn't fucking deserve you!" I yelled, pushing him slightly. "You deserve someone who loves you and cares for you like I do! Shane, I love you. I love you god damn much."
He stood there for a minute, taken back at little that I confessed how I feel about him. His lips were slightly parted and I watched his chest rise and fall. His eyes didn't look at me and he just shook his head. He looked back up at me and just stared at me right in the eyes.
"I'm sorry, but I don't love you in that way. You're my best friend, and I want to stay friends." Shane admitted, not daring to look away from me.
"I don't want to be friends, Shane. I want to be so much more than that, and I want to live my life with you and grow old together."I said, letting a few tears fall. "I can't be your friend if I'm madly in love with you. I need to just....I need my space."
"Are you kidding me? You're throwing away our friendship just because your in love with me?" Shane said, raising his voice to show his anger.
"I'm sorry. Just go. Please." I said, pointing towards the door.
Shane just stared at me before finally leaving. I watched him walk down the stairs and he opened the front door and slammed it shut. I clenched my jaw to stop myself from crying but that didn't work. I slid down the wall and pulled my legs into my chest. I put my head down onto my knees and just cried....
and cried...
and cried.
Until,
There were no tears left.
