chapter twenty-seven

Shane's POV

I fell for him slowly but surely. 

After the night where he took me to the hill, I couldn't help myself to fall more in love with the memories we had together. The more the stories, the more I fell for him. Once he finished the stories, I wondered off to the places either that story took place and take in the memory or I would just walk around the trails at the park and think about the certain story. 

Yes, sometimes I did wonder off to Blake's, but mostly because he wanted me to. I started going over less and less, and the one night I went over, Blake just showered me with kisses anywhere he could. I felt nothing, but when I went home to Ryland, he had sad eyes at the kisses that were on my neck.

I then broke it off with Blake, of course he was hurt, but I explained myself and he was happy that I was at least happy. After that, Ryland was my full attention. I completely fell for him as he would do 'boyfriend' things for me, and he was so kind. I know I fell for him three years ago, but it was nice to know how this felt three years ago.

"W-What? Why did you say anything?" He exclaimed, keeping his arms still around me and tightly. 

"I kind of wanted to kiss you at the right time, but I mean, you were about to leave me." I explained to him. "I thought it'd be a good way to keep you from leaving." 

"I did, but I bought a house...." Ryland said, as my eyes widened at him. "But, you can move in with me, and it'd be a bigger space for the both of us."

I smiled at him, and he smiled back at me in return. He slowly then leaned into me and I leaned into him, grabbing his face again and molding our lips together. We pulled apart, and Ryland took his hand into mine and caressed his thumb against the top of my hand. I used my other hand to grab out the necklace that Ryland had gave me with the ring on it. 

"I've come to a conclusion that this was my engagement ring." I whispered softly to him, as he just laughed and nodded. 

He unchained the necklace and slid the ring off the necklace. He then set the necklace chain on the coffee table, and he then grabbed my hand. He slowly slid the ring onto my finger before it was completely down. He looked back up at me, and looked back down at the ring. He then bit his bottom lip before he spoke. 

"There is one part I left out about our engagement." He grinned, as I just raised one of my eyebrows at him. "I could show you, but it's at Garrett's house." 

"Why is it at Garrett's house?" I asked, very confused at Ryland's words. 

"I'll explain when we get there." He said, taking my hand into his and pulling me out the apartment door, and locking it quickly before pulling me to the car.

"Are you ready to see?" He asked me, as I saw he was excited for me. 

"Just to warn you, it might be a bit jumpy when it sees you since it hasn't seen you in so long." Garrett warned me, but I just shrugged. 

I turned the knob to the backyard, and I didn't see anything until I saw a big yellow dog running towards me. I squealed, as it jumped onto me and licked my face. I groaned, sitting up and the I looked clearly at the dog as his tongue was sticking out and his tail was wagging side to side in excitement. 

"You probably don't remember him, but this is Uno. We got him at the mall when he was just a puppy." Ryland said, crouching down next to me to pet Uno. "We brought him home, and he got the ring out of the dresser drawer and he kind of spoiled it but it was sort of cute at the same time." 

"Wait-Why was he here? Shouldn't he have been at the apartment with us?" I asked, pulling Uno onto my lap in which he laid down and cuddled up. 

"Yeah, but I was emotionally unstable for the time you were in a hospital and I couldn't take care of him properly. Then, I only wanted to take care of you when you came home from the hospital and try to get you to remember so I just let him stay here until I was ready." Ryland explained to me, as I just smiled down at Uno. 

"Well, can we take him back home now?" I asked, hoping they would allow it as Garrett instantly nodded and Ryland just nodded along with him. 

"Please do, he takes over the whole bed when Mason and I get into bed." Garrett informed us, as Ryland and I just laughed.
