Shane's POV
{one month later}
Ryland and I have hanged out everyday since I've been here. I've gotten more comfortable around him, and I actually quite like him better now. Although, he is very overprotective but I know he just cares a lot. This will be my first day without him, since he has to go back to work.
"Now, if you do leave the apartment, make sure you buckle your seat beat and keep your eyes on the road." He warned me, as he threw on his jacket over his shoulders. "I can't have you getting hurt."
"Okay dad." I grinned, as I tossed him his keys in which he didn't catch. "Wow, that was literally the easiest catch you could have caught."
"Oh shut up, but seriously stay safe. Also, don't open the door for any strangers." He stated, opening the door.
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever." I giggled, as I slightly pushed him through the doorway and closed the door behind him.
It took me about an hour until I got extremely bored. I slipped on my shoes, and decided to just walk inside of driving. I walked across the street from the apartments to this little cute shopping plaza. I walked into my favorite shop that existed inside the plaza, the book attic. An old lady worked there along side her husband.
"Hello Mrs. Hanson! How are you?" I greeted her, as she sent me a smile.
"Ah, Shane! I'm doing fine darling. How about you? Are you coming in for a new book?" She asked, leaning against the counter.
"Maybe, I just came in to pass the time." I explained, as she just smiled and then extended her hand out to the store.
"Well, the store is yours. I set up some chairs over there the other day if you'd like to sit and read." She informed, I thanked her and made my way over to the several aisles of books.
I found several fantasy books and sat down in the lounge chair and read. I was occupied for a while, letting the minutes pass me by and I got more invested into the book that was in my hands. Ryland always said to try and imagine yourself inside the book, and that it makes it more fun to read.
That is until you're interrupted.
"Nice to see you again, stranger." I heard the voice chuckled out, as I turned my head to the side to see Blake. "One month later, and you still look adorable as ever."
I looked him up and down, he didn't look as bad himself either. A white shirt with a blue jean jacket over it, dark blue jeans, and beige sneakers that matched outfits perfectly. He sent me a smile as I saw the Mrs. Hanson come our way and she smiled at the both of us.
"Oh, Shane. I see you've met my son, Blake." She cheered, patting her son's shoulder before handing him a book. "Here's that book you wanted, sweetheart. You two continue talking, I'll be at my desk."
"I-I've never seen you around here. I didn't think she had a son." I said, standing up as I was growing tired of sitting.
"I come on the weekends to help her, but I really needed this book to add to my collection." He stated, holding up the small book in his hands.
"Collection?" I laughed, as I crossed my arms.
"Yeah, doesn't everyone have their little collection of books?" He grinned, as he playfully hit me with the book. "I never take you as the one to read. You look a little too cool for that."
"Why thank you. I'd take that as a compliment." I said, flipping my hair back as Blake laughed, making giggle just a bit since his laugh was contagious.
"Well, I never took you to get your ice cream. Would you like to go down to the shop and have some with me?" He asked with a slight smirk on his face.
I thought why not, as he did need to repay me. He smiled as I accepted, and we said our goodbyes to his mother. He led me to my car, opening the passenger door for me and closing it behind me once I was in. He got in, and we drove off to the ice cream shop. We talked on the way there as he was really casual, and not awkward in the slightest.
We arrived at the small shop and got us both ice cream cones. We sat down on the outside chairs and talked a bit more. He told me a bit about myself, as I then tried to talk about myself but I couldn't really tell him much due the accident. He still seemed to be enjoying my company though, or he was just really good at acting like it.
"So, about this accident, what happened if you don't mind me asking?" He asked, as he then grabbed my hand slowly and I just let it happen.
"From what I was told, the driver was drunk and his headlights were bright and he was one the wrong side of the road. He hit me with such an impact that it sent my car to flip and I'm stuck with amnesia. The doctors said that it could be possible to remember but only a percentage." I explained, as I looked down to my lap.
"Listen, you may not remember much but you still have a wonderful personality. I think that's the most important here, you're still the same guy that you were before." He grinned, as gripped my hand a little bit tighter but not too the point where it hurt.
"Thanks, Blake."
He smiled at me as he rubbed the top of my hand with his thumb. I smiled back at him, and he slowly leaned into me. Our lips brushed against each other until he finally closed the gap fully. Our lips moved with one another, and I grabbed the back of his neck to pull him closer to me. He smiled into the kiss as he held onto my waist.
We pulled away from each other slowly, our foreheads resting against each other. He pushed my hair back slightly so that he could see my eyes perfectly. He then looked me up and down, and smiled before pulling me back into another kiss.
