Chapter 6: Lesson number 3The lunch bell's awaited ring finally releases me from the torturous environment of algebra and out into my fourth lunchtime at Bridgeville High. The day has been going quicker so far. I'm not really nervous around people anymore, though I still have to remain cautious around Bella and her pack. I've only seen them once today and when I did, she sent a vicious glare my way which had me running for the hills.
Now, as I make my way into the cafeteria I notice that the guys aren't sitting at their usual table. They're instead sitting at a smaller table in the corner. My eyebrows furrow as I approach them.
"Is there a reason why you guys have disbanded from the popular group of clones?" I ask curiously.
Hunter smirks at me.
"Well, at the beginning of lunch we decided that we would not put up with Bella's bitchiness any longer so we went up to her and made our case about how much of a horrible person she must be to hit the new girl" he explains.
My mouth falls open in surprise.
"What did she say?!" I yell quietly.
"Well, at first she was a bit confused. But then she told us that she understood why we were mad and that she is sorry for hitting you" he replied bluntly.
"She said that?" I ask in disbelief.
He snorts at me.
"No, of course not. She threw a bitch fit."
"Oh god" I mutter under my breath, "she's going to hate me now."
"Violet," Ethan says.
I look up at him.
"If she or any of her cult members do anything to you then all you have to do is tell us and we'll.... handle it."
"What do you mean 'handle it'?"
Hunter smirks at me.
"What Ethan is trying to say is that they may or may not be kept in the hospital for close observation" he replies cockily.
I narrow my eyes at him.
"My dear Hunter, I thought we'd learnt from the other day. Woman abuse is not in your nature, even for the not fully developed such as myself" I reply cheekily.
"Are you sure you're not fully developed? I mean, just between you and me, you've got a lot going for you."
I give him a massive shove that is hard enough to push him off his seat. However, it is as I am laughing at him that I don't notice his arm snaking around my waist. The next thing I know he has pulled me backwards out of my seat. I curl in on myself as a protective precaution just before I land.
Yet, my landing isn't as hard as I thought it would be since it seems as though I landed right on top of Hunter. He begins to wheeze and cough, making it seem like I had winded him.
"Actually, on second thought, maybe being a bit more underdeveloped might help," he says between fits of coughing.
I slap him lightly on the arm before getting off of him and sitting back at the table.
"So, what do we have next?" I ask curiously.
"Um, I believe we have History together" Hunter points out from the ground.
"Oh right. I have history with Heather..... and you sitting a row behind us.
He sits up and looks at me with a narrowed gaze before it settles into one of humour.
