Chapter 3: Getting to know the bad boy

"Violet?" A voice whispers softly in my ear.

I feel a soft hand brushing my hair out of my face so I open my eyes to see none other than Hunter Jones looking down at me.

"You realise that you slept through lunch right?" He points out.

My eyes immediately fly open and I throw my head off of the table.

"Shit" I mumble, grabbing my stuff and getting up.

"Oh, and the lady swears" he laughs.

I glare at him before drowsily beginning to sprint out of the cafeteria. However, I can feel myself begin to stumble so I decide to slow my pace before I fall head over heels in front of Hunter.

"Careful you don't faint into my arms sleepyhead. That would be very awkward, though I'm sure you'd enjoy a nice taste of what it would be like to be friends with me" he says, winking.

I snort at his attempt at flirting and continue towards the door of the cafeteria.

"Aren't you gonna wait for me?" He shouts from behind.

"No. You can run lazy ass" I shout back.

He laughs in shock.

"Wow, and she swears again. You know I think I'm already getting to know more about you."

"Really? Well, you know what I'd like to know about you?"

He grins at me.

"Whether I can come over to your place later?" He asks cheekily, throwing me a wink.

I roll my eyes.

"No. I want to know why you didn't go to class?"

He laughs awkwardly and scratches the back of his neck, an international sign for a boy's embarrassment.

"Well, if I had left you then you probably would have slept until the end of the day and then Ethan would have killed me because I was supposed to wait" he explains.

"Oh, so this was Ethan's idea not yours? Should have known."

I continue walking away from him and towards..... well, anywhere but here.

"Hey! You said you'd wait!" He shouts.

"No, I didn't!" I shout back.

"Well, do you even know where you're going?" He shouts in amusement.

I stop mid-stride and turn to face him.

"Fine. Where do I go for my next period?"

He smirks at me.

"Do you have your schedule with you?"

I nod and walk back to hand him the sheet of paper. The tips of our fingers brush lightly against each other, making my heart flutter a bit, but I quickly dismiss it as 'first-day shyness disorder'.

"Well, it looks like you have last period next door to me so I can walk you there" he suggests.

"Oh joy" I mutter sarcastically.

He smirks at me before handing back the sheet of paper and beginning to walk down the hallway. I immediately begin to follow after him.

"I should probably warn you to just give up on this little dare of yours."

"Really? And why would that be?" He asks curiously.

I turn to look at him.

"I'm not much of a 'people person'."
