Chapter 7: 'The Girlfriend'

When we have finally found Hunter, he is sitting at a small smoothie booth, with a thoughtful expression on his face.

"You ok?" I ask out of concern.

He sits silently for a second, his eyes staring straight into no where.

"Why did you do that?"

For a second I'm stunned and I don't know what to say.

"Uh, I was just doing what Brendan told me to."

He nods in understanding.

"You know, that was a pretty good job on your behalf" he says, suddenly grinning.

"Thanks" I reply, a proud grin on my face.

"So, shopping?"

I nod in excitement, though I am still struggling to figure out how his mood had changed so suddenly...

********

"This is way too tight!" I shout in disgust.

Hunter laughs at me through the change room door.

"Just hurry up and show me! I bet it isn't as tight as you think it is" he persuades.

Groaning in annoyance, I yank the curtain to the side. I am currently wearing a red dress with a criss cross back that is close fitting around the waist before extending out over my thighs.

Hunter's eyes narrow critically.

"Nope. Red isn't really your colour" he points out.

I place my hands on my hips and shift my gaze to the other three guys sitting in chairs.

"What about you guys?"

They suddenly begin pulling out pieces of paper to scribble on and a few seconds later they all hold up their paper.

All three pages have a '10' written on them.

I smirk at Hunter.

"You were saying?"

He rolls his eyes.

"Just trust me, you can do so much better than that."

"This coming from you 'Mr Fashion Expert'. Why am I even doing this with you? Normally girls go shopping with girls." I point out.

He scoffs at me, crossing his arms, effectively showing off his toned forearms.

"What would they know? Plus, we're closer to you than any of your 'girl friends' like Heather, so go and take that off and try on the next one" he commands.

I sigh in defeat and head back into the dressing room, where a swarm of dresses awaits me.

********

"Why do none of these look right?!" Hunter cries in annoyance.

It's been about an hour of trying on dresses and despite having been through about half of the store. According to Hunter none of them are 'just right'.

"Is it the size?" Brendan thinks aloud.

"Or the colour" Ethan says thoughtfully.

"Or the fabric type?" Logan contributes.

"Hey, here's an idea" I say, catching all their attentions, "maybe it's the fact that I am not curvy at all and as flat chested as they come."

The guys look between one another as though, considering the possibility until finally they all turn back to face me.
