Chapter 14: MPPG"So that's it? You just sat there watching movies all night and fell asleep on his couch?" Heather asks in disbelief.
Even though she obviously doesn't believe it, that is exactly what Hunter and I did the night before. Of course, my mum had been going crazy worrying about where I was. Yet, once I mentioned Hunter she immediately went silent with a smirk sharp enough that I could feel it piercing my dignity.
Now, after all of the drama and awkwardness of waking up with my head pressed against Hunter's chest, Heather is trying to claw every single detail out of me as we get ready for the second day of challenges. The change rooms are completely empty except for the two of us, meaning that she feels no restraint in her prying.
"So tell me again what happened when you woke up?" She says, with a cheeky grin.
I sigh, deciding to give into her and her gossiping ways as I recall what had happened.
The light had just begun to seep through the midnight curtains when my eyes shot open. Before surveying my surroundings, I quickly recalled the night before. I remembered the way he had placed himself on the couch so that our thighs were skimming, but our bodies weren't actually touching. The constant contact teased us both a bit and by the time we had finally fallen asleep, butterflies were simply bursting from my stomach.
Suddenly realising where I was, I tried to get up but a heavy weight around my torso stopped me. Looking behind me, I realised that I was lying with Hunter's front pressed against mine, and his arm clamped firmly around my waist. I gasped in shock, which of course made Hunter's eyes fly open.
For a moment we just lay there with both of our mouths hanging wide open. Something suddenly clicked in his eyes as he realised what had happened the night before. Then his eyes dropped to take in the position we were in and how my head had obviously been laying on his chest. However, the second he spots his hand wrapped around my waist, he flinches back, which immediately sends both of us into a frenzy of shock and embarrassment.
"Um, morning" he mutters awkwardly.
My eyes are still wide open in shock, but the sound of his voice immediately snaps me out of it. I spring to life, swiftly attempting to push myself off of him. However, he seems to have thought the same thing, since as I begin to pull myself up, he begins to push himself off the couch. Needless to say, in mere moments we are both tumbling towards the floor.
Heather's laughter distracts me from the storytelling.
"You actually fell off the couch?!" She asks whilst tearing up.
I scowl at her.
"Oh my god that must have been the definition of awkward!"
"It was!" I shout back, trying to stop myself from burying my head in my hands.
"Come on you've gotta tell me the rest of the story before the tournament begins!" She begs desperately.
I roll my eyes before continuing.
This time Hunter was on top, staring down at me as I winced from the hard impact. My head ached a bit from the landing.
"Are you ok?!" He asks with concern.
"Yeah. Probably just lost 5% of my memory but other than that, I'm fine" I reply with a grin.
