Cassiopeia's POV
I was sitting with Hermione and Ginny the Sunday before the first task.
"Have you told your mum that you were entered in the tournament?" Ginny asked me.
I shook my head, "it's not like she'd believe I didn't put my name in, but she's going to find out from the daily prophet at some point" I muttered. And she'll probably congratulate me on such dark magic I was able to confund the Cup.
I left the rest of my toast and waited for Ginny and Hermione to finish eating. The second Hermione put her fork down someone grabbed us.
I looked to see Harry there, "Bloody hell Harry what are you doing?" I asked as he dragged us out of the hall.
"I'll tell you in a minute" he muttered as we walked out of the castle to towards the lake.
Harry checked around us before he began speaking as we walked around the lake.
"Dragons are the first task, they've got five, one for each of us" Harry said quickly.
"What? Do you know what type they are?" I asked my heart starting to race.
"They've got a welsh green, Chinese fireball, Swedish short-snout, French firefoot, and a Hungarian horntail" he said.
"A French firefoot? And a Hungarian Horntail? I've read about those... they're supposed to be two of the most dangerous dragons there are. I think the horntails worse though.." I said trailing off as I drifted into thought. It was silent for a few moments before Harry broke the silence.
"That's not all, Sirius thinks it may have been Karkaroff who put our names into the Goblet. Karkaroff was a death eater" he said.
"They have dragons for the first task. That's completely mental" Hermione said shaking her head. Harry and I nodded in agreement.
"Let's just focus on keeping you both alive until Tuesday evening, then we'll worry about Karkaroff" she said.
I nodded again, that was definitely the best plan. We had walked around the lake three times in thoughtful silence.
"We're never going to think of anything on our own. I'm going to library, are you two coming?" I asked somewhat irritated. They nodded and the three of us walked up to the library.
"That's it! The dragons weak spot are generally their eyes! The only place they don't have dragon hide to protect them." I said and shut my book a little to loudly.
"I've just remembered, Charlie told me over the summer" I told them in a whisper as madam Pince shushed me.
"But what's a spell that's going to distract them but not hurt them.. even if you managed to get their eyes, I doubt just one of us would be able to stun it" I muttered.
"Honestly Cas, if your worried about hurting the dragon.. I don't know if your going to get through this task." Hermione told me flipping through another page of the book she was reading.
I raised my eyebrows at her, "says the one who started S.P.E.W" I told her.
"You joined." She pointed out.
"True" I said with a shrug. The truth was part of me agreed with Hermione and the other half wanted to tell her the elf's were fine.
I didn't sleep well that night, and when I woke up on Monday I knew it would be a long day. I was just about to say goodbye to Harry and Hermione when I saw Cedric, who didn't know about the dragons. I nudged Harry in the ribs, and pointed to where Cedric was walking with his friends. He glanced over at him and then back at me and nodded. Harry told Hermione he would catch up with her, and we hurried after Cedric.
