Fred's POV
The room of requirement was warm. The temperature had been rising, not to mention how many people were in the room. We were practicing patronuses today. Cas was glaring at her wand, which was only giving off a bit of silver smoke.
"I- Can't- Get- It" she said irritably.
Harry must have heard her say it as he walked by, because he walked over to us. He watched his sister with an amused smirk for a second before he offered her any help.
"Having trouble sis?" Harry teased with a grin.
"Ya think?" Cassie said, glaring at Harry.
Harry chuckled, "think of a powerful happy memory."
With that, Harry turned and left to go help someone else.
"What happy memory?" Cassie said, giving her brothers retreating back a dirty look.
I smirked, "I can give you something happy to think of."
"Oh, like what?" Cassie asked, faking innocent.
"Come here and you'll find out."
"Hmm... alright," she said, taking a few steps closer to me.
As soon as she was close enough, I pulled her closer to me. I smiled down at her for a second before I kissed her softly on the lips. The now familiar feeling of warmth spread through me and I smiled into the kiss.
We broke the kiss but stayed close to each other, "I love you," I murmured against her lips.
"I love you too," Cassie whispered back.
George cleared his throat awkwardly, "I think that might be enough guys."
Cassie giggled, "sorry George," she said apologetically.
Then she turned to me and added in a whisper, "we can finish this later."
I smirked, but kept my thoughts inside my head, "maybe you should try your patronus again."
"Expecto patronum!" Cassie said.
A silver dolphin formed from the tip of her wand, and flew around the room. A huge smile spread across Cassie's face. I'd hardly seen her smile that much for a long time. Some of me wondered why she was so happy about this patronus, but most of me was just glad she was smiling.
Then the door to the room of requirement opened. All three of us looked around for the person who had opened the door. I didn't see anyone, until I realized it was Dobby the house elf. He had run straight over to Harry.
A strange silence fell over the room, as we watched the scene in front of us. The house elf looked horrified and soon Harry did too. Soon it became clear that Umbridge had found out, and she was coming.
Panic rushed through me, and it washed across everyone's faces. We'd finally been caught, and we barely had anytime to run.
"WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?" Harry shouted, "RUN!"
Instinctively I grabbed Cassie's hand and pulled her with me as we ran toward the exit. It was jammed with the entire room trying to get out. All we could do was hope that we could get out of here before Umbridge showed up.
"Fred, I have to go find Harry!" Cassie yelled.
"But what if you get caught?" I shouted back.
"I'll be okay Freddie, but I have to find my brother. You need to get out of here. Make sure Ron, Mione, and Gin are okay, alright?"
Reluctantly, I let go of her hand. Cassie ran off in the direction we had last seen Harry. I wanted to run after her, but she was right. George and I needed to make sure everyone else was going to get out okay. I did my best to convince myself she'd be fine.
Everyone had gotten out okay. Everyone that is, except for Cassie and Harry. Nobody had seen them since we had run from the meeting. Somebody had said they had seen them with Umbridge.
Dammit, she told me she'd be fine. I shouldn't have let her go, I scolded myself.
George was pacing in front of the sofa in the common room. Ginny was staring intently at the entrance to the common room. Ron and Hermione sat in a corner talking and glancing at the entrance.
"Where do you think they are?" George asked impatiently.
"Probably getting expelled," Ginny said grumpily.
"Optimistic outlook there sis," I said sarcastically. Hoping it would break some of the tension.
Finally the portrait swung open and the Cassie and Harry walked in. Cassie had a relieved look on her face, and Harry still looked worried about something. They split up as Cassie walked over to the three of us and Harry went to Ron and Hermione.
"You told me you were going to be fine. And you got yourself caught." I stated.
"Freddie, I am fine. I'm not even expelled."
"How'd you manage that?" George asked.
"Yeah, shouldn't you have detention for at least a week?" Ginny asked.
Cassie began to explain everything that had happened in the head masters office. All three of us stared at her in slight shock. Apparently some girl named Marietta had turned us all in. Kingsley Shacklebolt had obliviated her, and then Dumbledore took the fall for everyone.
The worst part was that Dumbledore was gone. Nobody knew where he went, or if someone was going to take his place. The worst thing that could possibly happen, was Umbridge would become the headmistress.
A little while later Cassie and Ginny decided to head up to bed. The two probably had some sort of girly stuff to talk about. I didn't mind this was a good time to talk to George.
Tonight was the night we started planning.
"So we're leaving? Like really leaving?" I asked.
"That's the plan," George told me. "I thought you wanted to?"
"Course I do, the shops ready. With the DA over, and Dumbledore gone there isn't anything worth staying for. I'm just wondering what we're gonna tell Cas," I told him.
I didn't have high hopes George would understand. Sure, he had Kileigh, but she was graduating in a few months. They would be able to see each other more often. Cassie still had two more years left at Hogwarts. As I realized everything that was going to happen soon, a horrible thought crossed my mind.
What if we don't work out?
A/N- Again, I'm so sorry for not updating. I thought it would be easier in summer, but that just threw me off my schedule. I'm going to try to be better with remembering to update this story. Thank you for reading, XOX.
