Cassie's POV
"I mean... he wasn't that bad?" I told Harry, although it came out as more of a question.
Harry gave me the 'you know that isn't true' look, "you saw what he did to Snape. He didn't even have a reason."
"Well.. yeah okay... maybe that wasn't all, there was probably more to it."
Harry and I had been discussing the day he decided it would be a good idea to snoop. Somehow he thought it would be a good idea to jump into the pensieve of Snape's thoughts. But of course I decided to follow him. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Stupid decision.
Now I was trying to convince Harry that our father couldn't be as awful as he seemed. The problem was, I wasn't sure I believed that myself. James Potter had been absolutely cruel to Snape, for no reason. Lily had absolutely hated James, and both Harry and I wondered how they ended up married.
The fact that we were planing on breaking into Umbridge's office tomorrow didn't help either of us feel better. I had just barely less than twenty four hours, and I was already anxious. This was probably one of the stupidest things I would ever do.
I shook my head, changing the topic, "any idea what you're gonna say in your meeting with McGonagall?"
"I think I'll ask about being an aurour," Harry said, "what about you?"
"Not sure, I used to want to be an unspeakable, but I don't know about that anymore."
As soon as I opened my eyes the next morning I felt panicked. There was nothing stopping me from talking Harry out of this and waiting to talk to Sirius during the summer. He's your brother, and you know you'll never be able to talk him out of this, my thoughts reminded me.
Right.
Hermione stirred just as I was tying my tie around my neck. She sat up and a few seconds later looked alarmed. I mentally groaned, I knew what was coming.
"You're not still going to do this are you?" She asked.
"Yes, Mione, I am."
"Any chance I can talk you out of it?"
"You could easily talk me out of this. But I'm not going to let Harry get himself into trouble alone, and you know nobody can talk him out of it."
Hermione seemed to have taken that as me telling her to talk Harry out of it. That hadn't been at all what I meant. Although, it was a bit amusing to watch her pester Harry all day.
Classes went by much quicker than I wanted them to. Before I realized it, it was time for lunch. That means we were already half way through the day. Only two more classes before Fred and George were causing a diversion and Harry and I were breaking into Umbridges office.
I was about to walk through the doors to the great hall when I heard the unmistakable voice of Fred shout, "Oi, Potter!"
"Weasley," I shouted back as I turned around.
Fred and George were standing by a corridor entrance, obviously waiting for me. Fred was grinning, but there was something sad behind it. My heart sunk as I realized what it had to be.
"Hey, Cas," Fred and George said in unison.
"Bonjour," I said in a bad imitation of a French accent, causing Fred and George to chuckle.
Fred grabbed my hand and led me down the corridor. George stood on the other side of me, also trying to mask his sadness. I began to wonder why they hadn't told me what was going on yet. The corridor was pretty much empty now that everyone was in the great hall getting lunch.
