Merlin rushed through his chores today. He did all of them just in time to get ready for the festival.
"Sire?" Merlin asked Arthur.
"Yes, Merlin?" He replied, not looking up from his desk.
"Could I go now? I really wanted to go the festival. I go every year." Merlin explained.
Arthur looked up and raised his eye brow, which reminded Merlin of Gaius. "Why on earth would you want to go to the festival Merlin? You're much too clumsy to dance."
Merlin smirked, he'd show him who couldn't dance. "Please? I've finished all my chores!"
Arthur sighed, "Fine."
"You should come." Merlin suggested. "You'll have fun!"
"I can't I've got too much paperwo-"
"I'll do it tomorrow! Come on! Have some fun! Everyone wears a mask, you won't even be recognized. " Merlin grinned, "You could dance with Gwen...she wears a purple mask. I saw her with it earlier today."
Arthur's eyes widened at this. "Ok, ok." Merlin grinned like an idiot as this. He rushed out of Arthur's chambers and down the hall.
"Woah, Merlin mate! Slow down! Where're you off to in such a hurry eh?" Gwaine said, stopping him in his tracks.
Merlin huffed, "I gotta...go...get ready...for the festival!"
Gwaine laughed, "Of course! I nearly forgot. You gonna be the center of attention again, eh?" He nudged him. And Merlin just laughed.
"Well, I'll see you later then." Merlin said, as he rushed off again.
He bounded down the halls and into Gaius' Chambers. He grabbed his mask and some foreign clothing so he wasn't recognized by anyone, well, besides Gwaine.
He heard music and quickly made his way into the village sqaure.

Arthur walked out into the square and saw people dancing. His eyes scanned the crowd for Gwen and he smiled when he spotted her. At least, he thought it was her. She had a beautiful green dress on and a purple mask.
He walked up to her nervously and tapped her shoulder. She turned around and Arthur layed out his hand and said, "May I have this dance, my lady?"
Gwen smiled and took his hand. After they started dancing and Arthur was alot less nervous, Gwen spoke. "You are a very good dancer sire." She complimented.
Arthur stopped dancing and looked at her. "How could you tell it was me?" He asked.
She giggled as they started dancing again. "Merlin said that you were coming to the festival this year...he also said that you wouldn't have the guts to ask me to dance." Gwen giggled again. Arthur was furious at Merlin for embarrassing him, but didn't let that get in the way of his moment with Gwen.
Suddenly everyone stopped dancing and Arthur turned around to see that all the people had formed a circle. And in the middle of it was a man and women. He'd never known two people who could dance so well. The man especially. He was very talented. Arthur turned to Gwen and asked, "Who is that man?" The pair wove around each other, twirling and spinning, dancing as one. They seemed to forget everyone else around them, only looking each other intensely.
Gwen smiled and said, "No one knows. He first came to the festival a few years back amd started dancing. The crowd always forms a circle for him and that lady."
"Hey princess. I see you've noticed my friend." Gwaine said as he popped up behind the king. His mask in his hands as he smiled. Arthur guessed that Merlin had also told him what Arthur was wearing. The asshole.
Arthur gave him a look, "You know him? Who is he?" He asked. Arthur couldn't explain why he was so enamoured by the stranger and his partner. There was something almost, dare he think, magical about them. Not in the menacing way either, more mystical and as if they were meant to be there, performing fro each other and the crowd.
Gwaine laughed, "You mean you can't tell? Who else has such pale skin and raven black hair?"
Arthur furrowed his eye brows. He couldn't think of who it might be..."I don't know Gwaine. Who is he?"
"Merlin." Arthur picked his jaw up from the ground and Gwen just smiled.
Merlin stopped dancing and bowed, "Goodnight my princess."
"Goodnight my prince." Said the girl, as they both parted ways.
Merlin smiled his goofy smile and walked over to Gwaine. "Hi." He said.
"Hey mate! Told ya you'd be the center of attention again!" He winked.
Merlin laughed and only now realized Arthur and Gwen were in front of him as well. He knew it was them because he'd seen Gwen's outfit earlier today and had given Arthur his. "Merlin! Where on earth did you learn to dance like that?"
Merlin laughed again, "I've always known how to dance like that, you clotpole."
