Merlin smiled his usual goofy, joyful smile. Today he was going to see Freya. One day, every year, he got to see her beautiful face.
Merlin couldn't stop smiling. And if he can't stop smiling, then no one can. It's contagious no matter what type of day you've had. Even the cook smiled a bit!
Merlin bounced around in a hurry, beaming with happiness. As he approached the king's chambers Merlin tried to calm himself down, but to no avail...That's when Arthur stopped him. "That's it!" He exclaimed out of nowhere.
"What is?" Merlin asked in confusion.
Arthur gapped at him, "What's wrong with you today? You're acting like a love sick little girl Merlin!"
Merlin gulped but his smile didn't disappear, "N-nothing, Sire, just having a good day is all."
Arthur didn't say anything for a second. "Is it a girl...?"
Merlin's eyes widened. "W-what? N-no, of course not, Sire."
"Come on, Merlin! You can tell me!"
"Well......"
"Go on." Arthur said with knowing eyes.
Merlin couldn't help it, he was so happy he felt like he was going to explode. "There is this one girl..."
"I knew it!"
"But I don't get to see her often. Only once a year."
"Oh."
"She had the most beautiful brown(blue??) eyes and brown hair. And her skin was a perfect pale colour. And her lips were small and pink. She was the nicest girl I've ever met..." Merlin trailed off dreamily.
Arthur suddenly furrowed his brows, "Had? Was? What...?"
"I-i think you should meet her for me to explain." He'd already revealed his magic to Arthur the day before. But was the king ready for this...?
They rode out to the lake Avalon and Merlin went to the water's edge, Arthur right behind him. "Here." Merlin announced.
"Wha-?" A girl just as Merlin described came out of the water, somehow completely dry. Magic. Arthur reminded himself.
"This, is Freya." Merlin introduced. "And this is King Arthur."
"It's nice to meet you Freya, from the way Merlin's been acting he must really love you. So, any friend of his is a friend of mine...or girlfriend in this case.
Freya's small smile turned into a curious glance. "You don't remember me, do you?"
Merlin grimaced, "He doesn't. Well not the druid girl you. Only the other half..."
"Oh." She said, "Okay, then."
"Wait, what?" Arthur intervened, "What don't I know now?"
"You killed me." Freya said.
