Kaili sighed as she stared at the empty, pale blue sky. She wished for more excitement in her life, more fun, more mischief.
Unfortunately though, Kaili's life was filled with anything but that. She'd wake up in the morning, help her father as the court physician and a noble (though he never seemed to like being called above others), helping her mother as a respected noble with whatever she needed, run a few errands, help the Prince and Princess (King Arthur's children) with whatever they needed - not that she really minded - they were all friends, then go to the meadow when she had a chance.
Her life was simple and boring, she couldn't help but feel as though she was meant for far more than just chores and helping. So, after this, this thinking, she was often left with negative thoughts and fantasies. Maybe my life is always going to be boring? She'd think, What if it, it never gets any different?
Her father and mother had always told her stories of when he was a lot younger and how he went on great adventures. He fought the great dragon. In fact, he was friends with and bonded with him too. He defeated death herself, he saved kings, he lived to tell the tail of being stung by a serket! He even passed the doroca's clutches! He killed Morgana!
Her father had done so much for so many and still did. But her greatest achievement was collecting hollycock weeds before sunset...
But, one day, a few weeks ago...She found something that kind of changed her. She was running an errand for her father when she tripped over something metal and sharp. Upon standing up and observing the ground below her she found a broken shard of metal from a sword, apparently still sharp enough to cut someone.
Kaili hissed as she noticed the shallow, yet painful, cut on her ankle. She looked down at it carefully, sitting down on the stone path. The blood dropped down her leg like running water, Kaili was somehow intrigued by it. She was feeling exceptionally down that day, without many reasons why. It'd been like that for weeks though, so it came as nothing new.
But something about the cut on her leg gave her a weird feeling...She seemed...satisfied. After looking around and making sure no one would see her she quickly grabbed the sharp object and cut her ankle again. She gritted her teeth but after a second, it didn't sting. It felt...good.
And that's why she was currently in the meadow. She was self-harming. She always wore boots so no one knew anything of it anyway.
Kaili sighed and headed back home.
On her way back from the woods she felt off. Like she was being watched...She'd felt a feeling similar back at the meadow. She turned around and a women stood in front of her. It was her mother, except, she looked different. She looked younger. In fact, she looked only a few years older than her.
Before Kaili could say anything she was interrupted. "Before you ask, I am your mother. But, I am from the past. Your father used to be just like you," She gave her a fond, yet sad smile. "He used to hurt himself. He thought it would rid him of all the sadness he carried."
Kaili was shocked to hear such things. Sure, her father must have had rough times but not too bad. Right?
"He may have told you stories, my child. But they are made to be happy and victorious ones for your entertainment. Your father went through so much to protect to people he loved. And he still does, I assume. But the reason I've come here, to the future, is because you are apart of his destiny. It is your destiny to show him how to let go. Without you...He will not become the man he is today."
Kaili was speechless. Although, somehow she managed to blurt out her questions. "M-me? I can't help my father! I can't help myself...i-i don't know how! And h-how would I go into the past? And wouldn't me talking to you cause a problem or something? Because you're from the past?"
Freya smiled, "Slow down, my sweet child. One thing at a time. First off, the gods have seen how much everything affects Merlin, his destiny is a great one and holds many burdens along the way. He needs your help. I'll tell you what to do once we get to Avalon. And no, there will be no problems as I will not remember you. Although, I must say, you are more beautiful than I could have ever imagined."
Kaili smiled at that. She didn't know what to say, this was a lot to take in. Albeit she was a bit excited. Her life was slowly becoming a bit more interesting than she'd have ever thought was possible.
