A/N: Just for the record, I do not ship Tauradonna. Just wanted to put that out there before I started this chapter.
Today was the second day of the school year. It went exactly like the first day. On the bus, had to deal with Cardin, Blake was reserved and reading her book, Ruby and Weiss were talking about meeting up sometime to get the project done, and I was sitting next to Blake. The day went slowly by as usual and soon before I knew it, we were back on the bus, heading back home. When the bus came to our stop, Ruby, Blake, and I left and started walking home.
"I never knew you lived around here," Blake said.
"Really?" Ruby asked.
"Yeah. I like in the neighborhood over, to the right of this one. I could have walked here."
"Hey, that's something I could use for the project," I said.
"Yeah!" Ruby said.
"Did you find a time to meet up with Weiss?" I asked.
"Yeah. We're going to meet up Thursday."
"Nice," I said.
We walked through the door, to see that my father was gone and no one was home. Ruby went into her room while Blake and I headed down to the basement with the things we needed for the project.
"I have a lot of questions I would like to ask you," I said.
"Seems like that's the only thing we're doing on this assignment. She never gave us any clear guidelines as to what we are supposed to do."
"Anyway, let's get started. I already know your name, so that's already answered."
Hours went by as we asked each other questions and answered. In between questions, Blake or I would crack a joke, making the other one laugh for a long time. I was getting to my last questions and it was already like 5pm.
"Alright, how about this one? Are you interested in someone or are you already taken?"
For the longest time, I had forgotten about that warm feeling I've had every time I was around Blake. For some reason, her smile, or laugh, or just a glance towards me makes my heart flutter. Blake took a while to answer the question, which caused me to feel a little uncomfortable.
"Well, I'm not interested in anybody. I have a boyfriend."
"Oh. What's his name?"
"Adam." (I DO NOT SHIP TAURADONNA! THIS IS JUST FOR THE STORY! IF YOU SHIP THEM, THAT'S FINE!)
"Does he go to this school?"
"No. He's at Shade Academy. Because of the distance, we rarely see each other."
"Where and when did you meet?"
"I met him when I was at a bookstore on the border of Vale and Vacuo. He seemed really nice at first. We started hanging out and soon, we were a couple. And that was two years ago, almost three."
"Sorry if I'm diving too deep into your love life, but do you think you'd be with him forever?"
"I hope so," Blake said quietly.
I slowly wrote down her answer. Inside of me, something was hurting. I don't know what it was, but something was hurting. After a few more hours, Blake had decided to stay overnight. In the meantime, while we were hanging out in the basement, Adam had facetimed her.
"Hey, babe!"
"Hi, Adam," she said in the most softest voice I have ever heard from her.
"Where are you at? Seems like you're not at home."
"I'm at a friend's house."
"Who?"
"Her name's Yang."
Blake slid the phone over so I was in the camera as well, "Hi there," I said.
"Hi, Yang. Nice to meet you."
"So nice to meet you," I said to Adam.
"Babe, I'll call you back. I'd like to speak to you in close quarters."
"That's fine."
"I love you."
"I love you, too."
They kissed each other goodbye, which started something inside. It was like a new found fire inside. I couldn't control it. Blake looked over at me, full of concern.
"Are you ok, Yang?"
"Just fine," I breathed out. "I'll be back. I'm going to talk to Ruby for a second."
I got up and walked up the stairs and towards Ruby's room. I walked in and saw she was at her desk, doodling something.
"Hey, Rubes."
"Yang! Don't scare me like that!"
"Sorry. I need to speak with you."
"What is it?"
"It's Blake."
"What about her?"
"She has a boyfriend. His name's Adam."
"Is this a good thing or a bad thing?"
"That's the thing. I don't know what's going on inside of me. When I'm near her, I feel lively. I feel like I could do anything when I see her amber eyes. And when she was talking to Adam, I felt like I wanted to punch him in the face."
"Maybe that's your sisterly senses kicking in. Maybe he's going to do something to hurt Blake."
"By the way they were acting, I don't think he'd hurt her."
"You never know.
"Yeah. I'm going to head back downstairs."
"See ya, Yang."
"Bye, Ruby."
I walked downstairs to see Blake was texting Adam. I popped in a movie and watched, noticing Blake was watching while she was still on her phone. When the movie was over, she fell asleep on one part of the couch while I fell asleep on another part. I couldn't sleep. I was looking at Blake, watching her sleep. Call me a creep, but I wanted to make sure she was alright.
~3 months later~
Figured out I liked Blake. But I knew she would never like me. We've been friends since the start of school and now we're heading into Christmas break. Adam was coming to her house for the holidays and our family was coming over to celebrate. Christmas went by and when the middle of Janurary came around, Blake seemed out of it for some reason. At the end of the month, I had invited her over to talk about it.
"It was very nice of you to have concern for my, Yang, but I'm fine."
"Blake, no you're not. Something happened between Christmas break and last week. You hardly sleep, you're not eating, you're rarely talking to me, Ruby, Weiss, and Velvet. What's wrong?"
Blake sighed and looked up at me, her eyes bloodshot, "It's Adam."
