Was it an end, or a new begining?

—two weeks later—

It was late in the evening when Avni could finally walk out of the courtroom. She has won an important case, but there weren't anyone close, to congratulate her. She've always imagined Neil to be right outside, waiting for her on her day of victory. Avni let out a sigh and started walking. She crossed the lanes and came out into a riverside. She rested her hands on the railing and peeked down into the river. "Boo!" The quick action of the person startled her and she almost lost her balance. Avni turned to face the person. "You won't come on time ever, eh?" She complained. Neil scratched the back of her hair, "I'm sorry.. but but is ain't my fault! The chauffeur didn't understand the route!" Avni rolled her eyes on this and walked away. "Ah, Avni! I'm being honest and you aren't ready to listen." Neil ran after her, holding her hand and pleading. Which dragged attention of the people passing by. Avni tried to free her hand. "Neil what are you doing? Everyone is staring at us!" She widened her eyes at him. "Let them, I wont let go unless you are convinced." Avni gave another try and then gave up. "Okay fine. I accept your excuse. Now-'' she slowly freed her hand. "-lets grab some dinner? I'm famished." Neil smiled. "Lets go!" Avni hugged Neil's waist and walked along him.

The streets of Strasbourg was almost empty at this hour. They walked into a vintage styled restaurant. Neil removed his jacket while Avni refused to do so. She hates winter for this reason. Avni waved her hand over Neil's face, who was lost in his thoughts. She gestured him, asking what he was thinking about. Neil shook his hand. "Just thinking on what would have happened if you hadn't put the truth in front of me. You know Avni, the clue you left to me... I saw the tube with Misti's hair the moment you left. And I couldn't believe that despite being an investigation officer, I failed to do a maternity test! You were smart enough to not even let Juhi know about a tinge of it. Otherwise she and Vidyut would have used another dirty trick to change the game.." Avni moved forward across the table and took Neil's hands into hers. "Let it be now, it's good that we got them lawfully arrested, Vidyut and Juhi. Vidyut had stooped so low in revenge, that he intended to shoot Juhi, but the bullet went through his own mother's heart. They say it right. God's grace is always on those who fights for the truth." Neil squeezed her hands, as an agreement to her statement. "How's Misti?" Avni asked when they were settled after their order was tabled. "She's doing well. Moved to the boarding school yesterday. Was quiet excited!" Neil explained. They spent the rest of the time in the restaurant, catching up on things each other have missed.

Avni switched on the lights of the apartment she had rented for short stay. Neil examined the room while Avni went into the shower. It was a small but a cosy apartment. Almost all the walls of it was built with glass, giving a spectacular view of the whole area from the 15th floor. Neil took off his jacket and threw it on the bed. "Started scattering everything already?" Avni rolled her eyes, while Neil smirked. He know she's a clean freak, and thank god it's keeping him sane. Avni was about to slip into the seat of the study table when Neil pulled her to him. "Neil!.." He turned her in a circle, bringing her into his arms and hugging her from behind. "I've missed you so badly.. missed this smell of you.." his voice was husky, giving goosebumps on Avni's skin. Neil lowered his face, burying it in her neck. Slowly placing kisses on her skin. He then turned Avni to face him, repeating the same on her face with more passion. He lifted her in his arms and took her to bed. Avni wrapped her arms around Neil's neck, and held him close. While Neil was busy, exploring every inch of her body. They have missed each other so badly. The passion, the love between them will not leave a space for suspicion again.
Neil opened his eyes in the morning, to quickly shut them again. The rays from the sun was directly on his eyes, and... on Avni's skin, who was sleeping next to him. He smiled thinking of how lucky he is to have her. He's hopelessly in love with this beauty! Neil moved closer and kissed on her back, putting a trail down towards her waist. This tickled Avni, she giggled and moved away from him. Neil again tried to repeat, receiving a slap on his hand. "Mr.khanna!" Avni gave a glare. Neil winked and slowly captured her lips. Avni move away, badly in need of oxygen. Neil's hands moved on her navel and then two the sides of her, tickling her to death! Avni screamed her lungs out and jumped out of bed. She quickly slipped on a sweater when she saw her phone buzzing. "Hello?.. oh yes..." Neil just then came and hugged her from behind, buzzing on the side of her face. His breath was tingling on her skin. "Yes I will.. uh huh.. No..Neil!" Avni whispered, making sure the person on the other end did not hear the last part. It did not stop Neil wether. He squeezed her more into his arms. Avni disconnected the call. "Neil..." she begun to complain, but it wasn't easy with him, so close. Avni then pushed him away playfully. Neil giggled and set on the window seat. Avni joined him in a while, with a cup of coffee for him. She was sitting on his lap, Neil's had wrapped around her. He played with her hair and placed a kiss. "Avni you do know that I'm still not happy with your decision right?" Avni let out a sigh. "I do." "Then why don't you just listen to me? There will be other Attorneys who would takeup the case of Vidyut and Juhi." Avni turned halfway round to see his face. "I know Neil. But in this matter, I don't want to trust anyone." Neil shook his head. "But Vidyut is very dangerous!" "I know he is dangerous. But that's not a reason to back out and not punishing him.. I'm firm on my decision Neil, and you have to support me. I can do this, if you promise to stay with me." Neil did not know a proper response, hence he gave up. It's Avni, no one could change her mind. He'll just trust her this time. He draped the blanket around them, desperate for her heat ♥️
