you're like a rainbow
he said to me
with a smile equivalent to
the shining sun on
a cold winter day

unexpected warmth rushed
through my body as i
asked for his reasoning
to which he replied

the way you blush
when i call you
the word beautiful
catching you off guard
causing your cheeks to
flush the deepest shade
of red

you are red
the deep dark velvety
red of a rose
which represents your beauty

but just like every rose
has its thorns
you have yours and they
are just as sharp as your words
when you are consumed with anger

orange because just like
that colour comes in
different shades
ranging from the brightest
to the duller hues

representing exactly
how human you are
because just like the colour orange
you have bad days
in which you see yourself
as the dullest shade

and there are days
in which your colour sharpens
and your entire body radiates
power in bright orange sparks
where your dullness turns to fire

when you asked me
what my favorite colour was
and you guessed yellow
hell, i didn't even like yellow

but the smile on your face
that eagerness in your eyes
made me see yellow
from another perspective

it is extremely rare to find a
natural emerald without a flaw
this green jewel reminds me of you
do you know, when you
complain about your thighs
being too fat

or your skin being too dark
or your face being too scarred
or your cheeks being too chubby
i'm just sitting there and thinking
how on earth did i get so lucky

you are the exact opposite of
an emerald, my love
you don't have to be
perfect to be rare
you are one in a million
and it can not be put in words
how thankful i am for you

you are that blue
which artists take precaution
in adding to their paintings
because it's so full of life

you are that blue which most
try to change simply because
it is full of imperfections
not realizing it's importance

you are that shade
of blue that we need
not the turquoise we want

you are that blue that
brings a smile on
my face, every damn day

you are the electric indigo
in the bolts of lightning
which split the whole sky in half
breathtaking yet dangerous to watch

but there is more to you
than what meets the eye
behind that electric indigo
there is this magnetic energy

which draws me to you
saps the strength out of me
are you aware of the amount of
energy your smile radiates
how weak it makes me

spring has came
violet flowers are blooming
and i am pleasantly
reminded of you

the way you turn a
piece of empty parchment
to a sea of beautiful words

the gift you have with words
which gives you the ability
to inspire me everyday
the way ink flows
from your fingertips

my love, what i have written
for you does not do justice
to everything you've done for me
i'm so helplessly in love with you

tear streaked eyes
