metaphorical meanings + explanation at the end
-
this neighborhood bears a heavy curse
it is haunted
by years of pain and misery
what if we become like our parents
we need to leave
his hand in mine
we ran
till we were stopped at a crossroad
where we met death
death was in a good mood
he cracked a few jokes
and then got down to business
in order to move forward
one of us had to die
or
go back and never be able to leave
it is not a surprise that i
chose to give up my life
rather than go back
and live in town
which wanted to end me
i am far too young
to live a life
that they want me to live
if a deal with death is the answer,
then be it.
lightning struck
the deal had been sealed
i closed my eyes as
drops of water ran down my face
it didn't matter whether
they were because of the rain
or because of my tears
i was very much alive
and the road
which was previously blocked
has now been opened
death gave me a humourless smile
aren't you brave
my next meeting with him
was seventy years later
and it is safe to say
the curse on the town had been lifted

explanation: sometimes we are afraid to make choices in our life because we feel as if we aren't ready to take the risk.
the neighborhood were her problems so she tried to leave them behind rather than living with them.
as she was trying to run way, she encountered death (a metaphorical way of me trying to say someone who was preventing her to leave away from her problems). she was offered a risky choice, either she could go back to the neighborhood (have to live with her problems) or die trying to save herself.
she chose the latter, she took the option she normally wouldn't have taken, she put herself first without thinking what other people might think. death was astounded by her bravery and the curse on the neighborhood (the wounds because of the problems she had) was lifted, (her wounds healed).
keep in mind that her problems didn't finish, nor did her life become a cliche happily ever after, they healed (not ended!)
