i walked up on stage
with flowers in my hand
to give a final performance
one last dance
a final goodbye
((hold tight to your seats, my dear audience.
i am about to show you what a
hurricane looks like))
the choreography in my mind
i danced to the beat of the music
left right left right left right
spin like your life depends on it
jump so high they think
you're trying to reach god
now land neither gracefully nor clumsily
remember to dance like a human
rage like ruthless winds
make mistakes
and then scream
this is your last performance
((dance your stupid heart out))
it is now time for
your last routine
do it well
it will make all the difference
one.. two.. three
you can do it
slowly and gradually
you take the fall
and hit the ground
with such immensity
that the ground breaks
((and so do their hearts))
never have they ever
seen anything like this
(most would call your fall a mistake, a miscalculation, a blunder, a disaster. do they not know that disasters are supposed to hit. and your beautiful disaster which you so carefully orchestrated like a fall hit them in the heart, right where you wanted it to)
you bowed
because you had done it
you had made them feel
with tears falling down your cheeks
you hear the deafening sound of applause
they think you're crying because you're happy
no you're crying
because after being broken to pieces
you can still dance again
((this time even
your mistakes made them cry))
- how very proud you are of yourself.
