I didn't know what to do or where to look. Kim's massive confession was absolutely intense. Full on shit right here. Who would have thought she knew Cole? And her brutal honesty wasn't doing well for my own mind. There was no way I could look Jude in the eyes right now. Or Brody. Not without blurting out the truth about what had happened before I got into a relationship with Jude. Nope. Not gonna happen right now. I just had to keep my mouth shut and all would be well.
The room was silent. Apart from the retching sounds echoing from the bathroom down the hall. Fucking Adam. I knew he was a weakass. It wasn't even a vomit inducing story. No gore or anything! Psh. Disentangling myself from Jude, I stood up, avoiding eye contact with everyone. I headed into the kitchen to grab some water for Adds before walking down to the bathroom and sitting on the floor outside to wait for him to be done. If I was a better sister, I'd be in there with a cool washcloth dabbing his forehead, but I could not do vomit. It was not my thing at all. As I sat quietly, trying to ignore the heaving and groaning going on behind the white door, Peter walked up. Padding quietly in socks along the floorboards, he grimaced as he sat beside me. I gave him a single nod in understanding.
"I never knew she had a thing with another guy. After the whole pregnancy thing I freaked and ignored her. As much as it hurt to do so."
"I know."
"If I knew she was gonna go out and find some other dude I would've stuck with her, I would have!"
"I know."
"God, I really swear I liked her."
"WE KNOW!"
Both of us turned to see Adds white faced and leaning on the door frame. I smirked at the fact he looked like shit. It wasn't that often that it happened. But he looked like crap now. Like crap someone had stood in and smushed into the ground.
So of course, for good measure, I whipped out my phone and took a few quick photos before he even realised what I was doing. I even had the flash on. How he didn't notice sooner? I don't even know. Dumb boy. Though obviously he wasn't in any shape to come and wrestle the phone off of me, so he just stood there, groaned and put his face in his hands. Such a wonderful sibling relationship we had.
Peter had the balls to look amused at Adam's outburst, causing me to giggle and turn to him. Time for business.
"So Peter, how close are you to getting the footy team national championship ready?"
He blinked a couple of times, then a smile grew on his face. "I reckon they're close. A few more training seshes, some more tactic training and they'd be good to go."
Sweet.
I knew I was running out of time. I had what, two or three weeks left before the anniversary of the accident? And there were still a whole bunch of ghosts running around. Gah. Peter, Lara, Brody, Jude. Not many to go. And hopefully no more would suddenly appear out of no where asking me to move a fucking mountain, because no thanks, nuh uh, not happening.
"Ter, why is he helping the footy team? It's 'cause I'm not there isn't it, I was the star player after all," Adds commented, flexing his biceps as he did so. Rolling my eyes, I ignored him because I could. That's how I rolled. Fight me.
Instead, Peter answered him. "Dude, that's what I have to do to move on into the bright shiny light thing. Duh." I blinked at Peter's sass. That never used to exist when I knew him before. Maybe it was a result of Kim's influence. She was always pretty feisty. Then he added, "Shouldn't you be with the chick you knocked up?"
