When I came to, I was lying on the couch with a soft ice pack under my head. From the dull ache which resided on the back of my skull, I figured I'd hit it. Vaguely recalling fainting, I slowly sat up, taking in my surroundings. More candles had been lit as the sky had darkened dramatically outside. The wind still raged with a vengeance, the outside world a picture of grey. Rain bucketed down almost horizontally due to the wind strength. It was a sight to behold upon waking.

Blinking a few times, I tried remembering how I got to the couch. That's when everything flooded back into my mind. Cole. Brody. Ghosts. Well, sort of ghosts. My eyes widened and I frantically searched my house with my eyes, as far as I could search while staying seated. Brody was no where in sight. I let out a breath, almost relieved that it had all been nonsense and not real.

"You aren't getting rid of me that easily doll." Brody's deep voice made me jump and my head whipped around to face him. He was leaning against the door frame, one leg crossed over the other, a smirk adorning his face.

"Damn. You scared me."

"Perks of being a ghost," he replied saucily.

Rolling my eyes, I continued. "Why couldn't you have been a dreammmm." I slumped against the couch arm rest.

"Ouch, you cut me deeply right here," he spoke, gesturing to his heart. Walking to me, he picked up my legs and sat on the couch underneath them, letting me use his lap as a footrest. His legs radiated unnatural warmth and I was slightly discomforted in the fact he was dead.

"This is all too creepy."

"Tell me about it. I had to carry you to the lounge. Fainted girls are the creepiest things to deal with."

That earned him a slap. I revelled in the solidarity of my hit, staring in awe at my palm after it made contact with his stubbly cheek.

"Yes, doll, you can touch me. I'm in limbo remember? Not a full ghost just yet." He began absentmindedly playing a rhythm with his hands against my shins. "Oh, Cole thinks you're borderline crazy, just a sidenote."

I jolted upright. "What?"

"Well you did start speaking to a person he couldn't see in front of him, then went to your room after claiming you were off to the bathroom." Placing his hands behind his head, he leant back into the plushness of the couch. His blue eyes sparkled with amusement as he waited for my reaction.

"What is it with everyone I know having blue eyes!?" My ever faithful knack of blurting out what I'm thinking, related to topic or not, comes into play yet again.

Brody's jaw dropped a little before a sigh escaped his mouth. "You're not making this easy for me, are you."

"Exactly! Pick someone else who will, there problem solved!"

"Nah, I like annoying you." This guy was just so slick. I was reminded of why he was vice captain of the team. He had that annoying self confidence as well as natural leadership.

"Grrrr." We had a stare off, but I finally conceded and decided to get on with whatever the guy needed. "Alright, so how's this supposed to work now?"

Seeming more alert, Brody straightened up. "Well we have to deal with both the girl and my bro ASAP. But Delilah has to believe you and my brother Jake needs to be alright for the future."
