"Uh, hi Cole. I wasn't expecting you to be honest."

He chuckled. "Yeah, I wasn't expecting to be here either. Here, I got you a coffee. It's a caramel cappuccino. I took a stab as to what you liked." Damn, he was spot on.

Greedily, I took the coffee out of his hands and let him inside. The weather really was crazy. Outside, the wind was throwing the trees around like paper and dark clouds loomed everywhere. Shrugging his jacket off, he placed it on the coat rack and I gestured to the living room. He nodded, taking a seat on the black leather couch. I cupped my coffee in my hands before taking a seat, facing Cole with one leg crossed under the other.

He smiled a heartbreaking smile. "I'm glad your friend called me yesterday on your behalf."

I was in the middle of taking a sip and choked a little bit on it before swallowing the scalding liquid. "You are?"

"Oh yeah. It's not everyday you give your number to a gorgeous girl and have her best friend ring you because that girl is too chicken to ring you herself."

"I wasn't too chicken. I was just, um, busy."

"Right." He smirked, his eyes lighting up with mischief. Edging closer to me, he placed his now empty coffee cup on the coffee table. He rested one arm on the back of the couch, just beside my shoulder, taking a piece of my hair in between his fingers.

"Tell me about yourself."

I was still kind of in shock.

"Terrie?

"Oh, you were talking to me. I didn't realise. Well, I'm seventeen, go to Montgomery High, have no siblings, my favourite food is cotton candy, my favourite colour is gold and my favourite animal is the panda."

"I love pandas." He smirked at me, leaning slightly closer.

"Pandas? That's what you got out of that?" I couldn't help but lean backwards, I mean I barely knew the guy.

"Yup." He edged back a bit and spoke again. "I'm nineteen, have two older sisters, I used to go to Montgomery High, I love fish and seafood and my favourite colour is blue, I know, classic boy colour," he added at my knowing face. I just laughed a little.

The wind began to howl and shake the windows, making me jump. The lights inside the house dimmed a couple times before flickering off for good. Oh yay, no electricity. I stood up and moved towards the window in the lounge room we were in. From my house you could see the beach over the houses as my place was on a hill. The waves were thrashing at the shore, pulling away the wet sand with it. I inwardly cringed, feeling for the beach. It was a good place to think.

Sensing Cole moving to stand behind me, I whirled around, crashing into his chest. Rubbing my nose, I spoke with a funny sound to my voice, "Why'd you have to be so close?"

Placing a hand on my cheek, he chuckled. "Well, why do you have to be such a clutz?"

I frowned at him, deciding to go in search of torches and candles for later that night. I didn't see the electricity coming back on anytime soon. First looking in the kitchen, I stumbled upon the fact the refrigerator and freezer weren't working. Meaning all the food would be gross if I didn't eat it.
