This was it. Today was the day. The anniversary of the mysterious 824 accident. I'd woken up at 4am and hadn't been able to fall back to sleep. I couldn't believe it was already here. And I'd failed. Jude was still here, along with Lara. Jude was currently lying beside me on my bed as I stared silently at the ceiling.

"I couldn't do it."

"I know."

"I've failed."
"No you haven't. Lara's only here because I'm here, and I'm only here because you haven't accepted it to yourself."

I paused. Jude couldn't be right. Even though he usually was. Oliver had woken up and been released from hospital a few days after being admitted. He was perfectly healthy and nothing about repeating history had happened so far. But again, it was only 4am. Ames had only minimal morning sickness and because she was skinny, had begun to show a little. She was content and loved the baby with all her heart, even with such a long way to go. She was absolutely radiating lately as I faded more and more. Dark circles had stuck themselves under my eyes and my pale complexion was even more so. I'd also lost a little weight, but I hadn't been stick thin to begin with, so that wasn't the end of the world.

My brother had been weirdly absent from life the past few weeks. Like he was here physically, but I didn't know what had gotten into him. Tom had been glowing with happiness as Amity returned his affections. They weren't an official couple, but it didn't seem far off. And he was brilliant about the whole pregnancy thing, stepping up where my brother failed to. Apparently failure was a family trait. No one knew about what really happened with Cole in the closet that day. I was assuming that Indie thought her plan had worked and that I was knocked up with some weird hybrid baby. Little did she know.

When the sun had finally risen, I shook off my melancholy and headed to the kitchen to feed myself before I got ready for school. Nothing bad was going to happen right?

The drive was quiet, the radio soft background noise. Jude was sombre, almost as if he knew what was going to happen but wasn't sharing. Arriving at school, my doubts were erased as I saw everything as normal. My friends joking around in the quad area, goofing off pretending to be something stupid. I grinned and looped my arm with Jude's, yanking him over to them. Ignoring Oliver's cold eyes on me, I embraced Ames and muttered some baby mumbo jumbo to her belly before making conversation with Tom too. Grimacing, I clenched my fist a few times as the weird ghost magic tattoo began to sting. It wasn't unbearable, but it was definitely uncomfortable. Ever since Brody had left, it'd been on and off painful. This had never happened with the disappearance of any other ghosts, but I just attributed it to the fact Brody and I were closer than I was with any other ghost.

As time approached half past eight, I clenched my jaw and unvoluntarily shifted my eyes over to where the bus had flown through last time. Stop it Terrie, you're being ridiculous. Nothing is going to happen.

Biting my lip, I threaded my fingers with Jude's for support while Oliver grimaced and stalked off muttering something about going to the bathroom. Out of no where, my idiot brother rocked up wearing his smartest business clothes. Like what the fuck. It's high school. Which he didn't even go to anymore. Honestly. I opened my mouth to berate him when he cut me off, addressing Amity.

"Hi Ames," he started shakily, brushing a hand through his dishevelled hair. "I just, I wanted to apologise for leaving you high and dry. I didn't support you when I should have and I wanted to let you know I'll be here for you from now on."

I snuck a glance at Ames and her glow was slowly dimming as she placed a hand over her stomach protectively. She stepped out from beside Tom, much to Tom's silent protests and glares thrown at Adam. But Adds wasn't paying attention to him. He had eyes for Ames and her only. Which was a surprise considering last time I saw Adam was ages ago; I thought he'd already gone back to university to be honest. Oops. He was sweating bullets and I could tell he genuinely cared and was really ready to do this parenting thing. I was curious as to what Amity was going to decide since I didn't want Tom or Adam to be hurt. Staring at Ames, all attention was on her. I watched as she bit her lip, glancing guiltily down at the ground to her left. And I suddenly knew who was going to be hurt.
