I'm so sorry this is incredibly overdue! I've had the hsc and it's been a crazy time but after it's all over, everything will be back to normal. Anyway, here's a short update for y'all, it's not that great, but it's something :)
Thanks!

Delilah's POV
Today was a day like every other day. I would catch the bus to school, walk through the school halls, invisible, then at the end of the day, catch the bus home.
Rocking black skinny jeans and a light purple flowing top with ruffles, black converse to top it off, I entered the school grounds. I clutched my folder tightly to my chest and hiked up the straps of my handbag which had slid down my shoulder. Keeping my head down, I proceeded to make my way to the library, a sanctuary for me. Occasionally, I was bumped into by other students in younger years, ignoring their sneers and insults. There was a time when I would have punched them in the face for it, but that was long gone.
A tightness enveloped my chest and coursed through my arms. I felt hollow, empty. So many things reminded me of him. Guys running past wearing the school footy jersey, passing a football. Classes we used to have together. I never even got to say goodbye.
I blinked a few times and willed away the tears as I pushed the glass doors of the library open. I was greeted with a small woosh of air, a resultant of the air conditioning and the air lock type thing the place had going on. Sighing, I walked over to my normal table and placed my folder and bag down on the cool surface. I plonked down into the plastic chair and flicked my shoulder length bright red hair behind my ear.
Quiet murmurs floated throughout the library and the crisp sound of pages turning created a peaceful noise to complete school work to. Pulling out maths worksheets from yesterday and a few pens, I set out to finish off the questions I had left undone. Calculations ran swiftly through my mind as my right hand scribbled out my thoughts. As I reached the last question, a large encyclopedia slammed down on the desk I was working at. Frustrated, I placed my pen down and angled my head up to face the source of my annoyance. My mouth dropped in a perfect 'O' shape when I saw the perpetrator. Thomas Berry.
He stood, relaxed, wearing none other than a blue button up and darker jeans to match. His dirty blonde hair was swept messily to the left and a lopsided grin adorned his face. I quickly shut my mouth and composed myself, a small smile working its way onto my face.
"Tom Berry. Never thought I'd see you around here again." I almost scowled, remembering the friendship we used to have.
"Yeah, sorry about that." He looked down guiltily before snapping his head back up. He was smiling in a creepy way, as if he knew something I didn't. He continued to speak, life and humour dancing in his voice. "Miss Delilah Hunter, if you would be so kind as to follow me. I kind of need your help with something."
I raised an eyebrow. "And why should I help you? You left me, abandoned me last year. I had to face everything on my own without you or Ollie around." He flinched.
Pressing his lips together, he turned, grabbed a chair from a nearby table and spun it around, straddling it and leaning both arms on the back of it. "I know. I'm really sorry about all that. But I really do need your help. See, Ms Walker asked me to get you and bring her to her classroom to help sort some things out, seeing as we are the nerds of senior year."
The corners of my mouth quirked upwards at this. "I see. I still haven't forgiven you, but I'll come anyway, you loser."
He chuckled and threw an arm around my shoulder. "You haven't changed one bit Del."
I loosened my posture and leaned into his embrace slightly. I had missed his friendship. We used to be unstoppable, Tom, Ollie and I. Uncaring about the rest of the school, together we topped every subject the school had to offer. There was only one person I missed more than my boys.
"Does this mean you're ditching Terrie and Amity to hang out with me more?" I was hopeful, to be honest. I never liked them. Terrie was the popular girl. She was never outright mean to me, but she never gave me a chance really. Amity, only having come to the school more recently, bounced around the year like she owned the place. Best friends with Terrie and it made me want to vomit. Amity was too cutesy for my liking. Terrie seemed changed after the incident, but I wasn't counting on anything.
Tom frowned beside me, his blue eyes falling a shade darker. "No Del. They are my best friends. But after this, you might change your mind about Terrie and I at least."
After what? Was my first thought. We had arrived at Ms Walker's classroom and the door was shut. The corridor was empty and I felt strangely scared.
"You aren't going to rape me or anything, right?" Wide eyed, I confronted Tom. He just cracked up laughing and opened the door.
"No Del, I'm not. Just go on in and find out for yourself."
Hesitantly, I followed his instructions and walked into the classroom. I peered around and my heart stopped.
Standing in front of me was Brody. My Brody. I blinked in disbelief a few times before blurting out, "You're supposed to be dead."
My hand flew to cover my mouth. He chuckled and took a hesitant step towards me. Too shocked to move, I stood straight, taking it all in. The room was floor to ceiling packed with red velvet cupcakes. My favourite.
He was dressed just how he always used to when he was around only me. Faded blue jeans and a red and black checked flanno. A cute red beanie adorned the top of his head as he held out a single red rose to me.
"Yes Del, I am technically dead. But something crazy happened and somehow I ended up back here. But it's a limited time only thing." His eyes dropped with a hint of sorrow before he glanced back at me. I could feel tears building in my own eyes as he stared at me. It was so surreal.
Walking over to him, I slowly reached a hand out to him, scared to touch him. Gasping as my hand made contact with his chest, I stared at my own hand as if it was an alien. Whipping my head up to meet his grinning face, I moved both my hands to cup it.
"Brody Evans, you'll be the death of me," I whispered.
"Let's hope I won't, one of us being dead is more than enough." He closed the distance between us and placed a sweet kiss on my lips. I responded, pouting slightly when he drew away.
"Del, I needed to tell you that I love you." He honestly just looked like he couldn't help himself but to say it.
"I'm in love with you and always have been. I get a short time on this earth because I had unfinished business. Telling you I love you was part of that. And I'm going to spend every day I have here telling you that and reminding you how beautiful and amazing you are to me."
At that moment, I couldn't care about Tom, Terrie or Amity. All I know is two of them brought him back to me and that was all that mattered. I leant in for another kiss as he smirked, grasping my waist.
"Don't you forget me Del."
