Alec ~ Oh Christmas Tree

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

Here's a cute, fluffy newlywed Alec for you guys! :)

The bristles branching off the brilliant green ferns of the Christmas Tree were radiant in the dark, cloying room within the Institute.

It was yours and Alec's first Christmas as a married couple and you'd only just recently moved in together.

Like, 3 days ago.

And the second you'd moved in and the boxes were cleared, you'd demanded to get a tree. Having, like Clary, grown up in the mundane world, your love for Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter and Halloween were very prominent.

Alec's however...not so much.

"I can't believe this stupid thing cost us so much mundie money..." Alec grunts, heaving the thickly bristled tree up into an upright position in the stand, "Not like I have much experience with mundane currency but...$80 is a lot, right? Is this tree...bigger than it was last night?"

"Not really" you lie, "And, yes, it is because we left the branches to drop last night"

"Right. Well, come on then" Alec sighs, stepping back from the rightened tree to stand by you, "Show me how to decorate this stupid thing"

"Oh, Alec, love, forever the optimistic ray of sunshine" you laugh, opening the large box of Christmas decorations that had been passed down to you the night of your wedding - your entire family knew it.

Christmas is your favourite time of the year. Like, better than your birthday.

You take the lid off of the container and place it aside, immediately grabbing fro the tinsel which you always put on before the lights.

You set to work winding, weaving and working the tinsel through the branches of the thick pine tree and just as you finish, you hear a grunt from behind you. You turn around...and burst out laughing

"Do not laugh at me!" Alec glares but it doesn't stop you

Somehow, Alec has managed to get himself completely tangled up in the Christmas lights, his hands and arms woven through the plastic coloured lights just as the tinsel on the tree

"How...in the world...did you manage to do that?" You snort

"Stop laughing at me!" Alec grumbles, "I wasn't raised mundane, I don't even know what these fucking things are!"

"Their Christmas lights" you explain, beginning to help Alec unwind himself from the plastic trap

"Which do?"

"They make the tree look pretty" you shrug

"They...make...the tree...look pretty?" Alec draws out, rolling his eyes, "You've got to be kidding me"

"Nope, not kidding you" you giggle before gasping, spotting a pair of reindeer antlers and a red and green feather boa

"No" Alec warns you, "No, Y/N, no. You are not putting that on me!"
