Jace ~ No More

gotta say real quick, even though i'm not a jace stan, that jace gif is getting my alec heart beating just a lil bit ...  that smirk.... damn

The pounding music of the club reverberates through your head as you step into Pandemonium, followed closely by your fellow Shadowhunter friends Clary, Alec, Izzy and...Jace.

Yours and Jace's situation was a little more complicated than just friendship. Up until a few months ago, the sexual tension between you two was enough to make all your friends, even Alec who hated talking about that kind of stuff, question what kind of relationship the two of you had.

So, you'd finally decided to talk about it and try to resolve it...which ultimately resulted in the two of you becoming friends with benefits.

Everyone you guys told about your arrangement told you that you guys were insane, that friends with benefits never works, especially when coming straight out of a close-knit friendship. However, as was the usual with both of you, you ignored the continuous warnings and went ahead with it anyway.

Now, three months into your arrangement, you'd started to develop true feelings for him...even though you didn't want to admit it to yourself.

"Y/N" Jace's voice sounds from behind you and you're broken from your thoughts, "Are you ready?"

You nod your head, gripping your sword tighter in your hand before progressing further through the club, Izzy and Clary close behind you.

"Who's the target?" Clary asks, still new to the Shadow World

"Pink dress, black hair" Jace recites before coming to a stop, "I have an idea, you guys stay here"

Jace continues forth into the sweaty, loud crowd before coming to a stop in front of the woman. You didn't exactly know what to expect with Jace's strategy, but starting to flirt with her was certainly not one of those expectations at all.

Suddenly, your face goes blank and jealousy overruns your mind, clouding every thought and instinct and all you want to do is kill the bitch.

"What's he doing?" Clary pipes up, voice laced with interest

"He does this a lot, especially when our target's female" Izzy explains, "Flirt tactic, get's her guard down, makes he concentrate less so that she's distracted and then we come in"

You watch intently as Jace says something, a cocky smile on his face and the warlock laughs, tossing her hair over her shoulder, smiling seductively. Jace leans in towards her ear, whispering something and your blood boils, your vision clouds and, suddenly, you're moving, following Jace and the warlock as he leads her outside

"Y/N!" Alec calls after you, "What are you doing?!"

"What's happening?" Clary asks, concerned, "Should she be doing this?"

You ignore the cries and protest of your friends behind you and creep silently but quickly to the exit door, hand gripped so tight around the handle of your sword that your knuckles turn white.

You ease the door open, sliding out stealthily before seeking shelter behind a bin, breathing controlled and concentrated.

You hear the warlock whisper something, laughing airily and before you know it, you're jumping out from behind the bin and attacking. The warlock, so shocked by your interruption, doesn't recover herself in time for your attack and get's your sword to the chest before she can even widen her eyes.

She turns to smoke and ash in front of your eyes and you huff triumphantly, sliding your sword back into it's holster and meeting eyes with Jace...who looks furious

"What the hell, Y/N?!" he yells, his voice echoing through the shaded alley, "I had it!"

Jace, if anything, was incredibly egotistical and when it came to missions, he liked to take charge and do everything, despite the fact that missions were a team effort. So what you had done, to him, was a massive insult.

"Oh, sure, you did!" you fire back, "Because whispering in her ear is a sure fire way to kill her! How brutal!"

"I was leading her into a trap!" Jace fumes

"Well, good job, you lead her, I killed her, job done!" you scream, panting and huffing

Jace's face breaks out into a cheeky smirk and your frown, not sure where exactly he's heading, "You were jealous, weren't you?"

"What?" you mumble, eyes darting nervously

"You were jealous of the warlock" Jace smirks, "You saw me flirting with her and got jealous...you have feelings for me, don't you?"

"No!" you shout half-heartedly, "No, I-I, don't..."

Without warning, Jace's hand wraps around your neck and he slowly brings your face towards his. You momentarily forget why you were so angry and close your eyes...and then you pull back from him, you're anger diffusing but instead, nerves wreak through your body.

No more.

"What are you doing?" Jace whispers

"Stopping you" you announce, taking a couple steps back, "Stopping this"

"What...what are you talking about?" Jace stutters and for a second, you could've sworn he seemed panicked...but it was gone just as quick as you'd caught it

"This isn't working anymore, Jace" you voice, "Because, yes, I do have feeling for you and this 'friends with benefits' thing, it's not working for me anymore"

"But-"

"No. I can't do this anymore, and you can't do relationships. It's not your thing, you said so when we first agreed to this, but I can't do it anymore! It hurts too much and I can't bear it so...let's just be friends, okay?"

Jace opens his mouth to speak, but you don't let him get the words out and open the door quickly, hurrying back into the club.

"Where's Jace?" Izzy asks just as Alec asks, "Where's the warlock?"

"Jace is right behind me and the warlock is dead, I killed it" I inform them, putting on a brave face, "Mission completed. Let's go"

You charge forward, not checking to see if the others are behind you, tears brimming your eyes
