Cairo.
"How did I know I'd find you here?"
It didn't take me long to find Chris. This was the one place he would always end up when he was either upset or needed to clear his head.
"It reminds me of the good times where we didn't have to worry about anything," He sat at the edge of the bed with his head in his hands.
"So instead of going to your mama house which is right across the street, you came to Zari's parents house to sit in her room?" I arched my brow. "Why come here when Zari is at my house probably can't sleep, just for you to say it reminds you of the good times?" I didn't get it; it didn't make any sense. Did he lose some common sense when he got his shit revoked?
"Is she okay, is she still mad at me?" Chris looked me. He had this worried look in his eyes and I grew concerned. Chris rarely ever looked worried.
"Well, I don't know I left her to come look for you."
"Why would you leave her home by herself?" He semi yelled.
"It was either bring her and risk us being chased by the people we're trying to get away from or leave her at the house in that room where I know she would be at least safe until we get back," I stared at him in confusion. "You must forget. I have to look out for you until you get your necklace back."
"I'm a grown ass man," Chris sucked his teeth and stood to his feet.
"Well act like it. Push all the small shit to the side and toughen up. You're a man with or without the necklace," I also stood to my feet.
"Why make it seem like the necklace is the only thing that made me a man?" Chris threw his hands up into the air and scuffed loudly. His face was turning red, and I knew he was getting angry, but he was acting like a child.
"Because that's how the hell you making it seem. You're the only one making it seem as though you can't be the man you use to be without it, and it's pathetic," I also scuffed at him.
"Pathetic, who you are calling pathetic?" Chris arched his brow. He came close to me as if he was sizing me up.
I took a step back and chuckled.
"Chris, you don't want these problems."
"Baby I hear voices coming from her room, she must have come back home."
I quickly looked at the bedroom door then looked back at Chris. The door handle started to jiggle and in seconds I grabbed the front of Chris shirt and jumped out the window. We quickly made it down the street and as I stopped under a streetlight, I pushed him in his chest.
"You can't be doing this man."
"Hell, she wouldn't have known I was there if you didn't come," Chris fixed his shirt and started walking up the street back towards the house.
"What kind of creepy shit are you on?!" I was getting really frustrated with him. "Your wife is at my house, not her parents' house. You need to stop acting like a little bitch and sleep next to your wife."
"You a bitch," He mumbled under his breath.
"You're acting like a child," I sighed heavily as I walked behind him.
I followed behind until we were in front of his mom's house. Before he knocked the front door was already opening with his mom standing in the middle of it with Zari's ring in her hand.
"How did you know I was coming?" Chris tilted his head to the side.
"You and Cairo aren't that quiet you know," She arched her brow and placed the ring in his hand.
