The Beauty and the Tragedy - Trading Yesterday

Mia's POV

Turns out, my father offered some money to Juliana as well, not just Zayn, but since she didn't want to take it empty handed, she wanted to work for it - and this was what she got.

Why did he give her money?

Because she was also a part of the plan. I didn't exactly remember how Juliana and I reconnected, but I did remember that she was the first to contact me. Must have been dad's doing.

I asked how Wentworth was doing and she replied that she didn't know. It was bizarre but she honestly didn't have a clue. Why? Because they were no longer together.

She cheated on him.

I swear, did cheating occur this often or did the sanctity of relationships mean nothing anymore?

I didn't want to get into the details of it so I switched the topic to her baby, who was still Wentworth's but after he found out what Juliana did, he didn't want anything to do with her or the baby. I apologized and apologized but she only chuckled and told me it wasn't my fault. What's even worse was her three month old infant, Ames, was born prematurely. Juliana was only six months along when her water broke.

I told her to take as much time as she needed so I gave her the week off. I even offered to meet her at her flat today since I was really looking forward to seeing baby Ames but she declined, telling me that his flu was quite contagious and unless falling ill was a priority of mine, then she suggested I stay home.

After our phone conversation, I returned my attention back to work which mostly consisted of reading papers, signing papers, and revising papers. Mostly contracts, renewals, and when I didn't understand, I simply asked Mrs. Reynolds, who by the way still addressed me as Miss Vance.

"Will it be too much of me to ask you for Juliana's home address?" I asked Mrs. Reynolds as we entered the lift.

"No, I don't think so," she shrugged her tiny shoulders. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner."

"It's okay. It doesn't matter anyway," I assured her with a smile. "How soon will you be able to find it?"

"It won't be long. When you arrive home, it'll be in your email," she replied sounding absolutely confident and I nodded.

Arriving to Zayn's flat, I didn't see his car parked in the driveway. I hadn't seen him in what seemed like years even though it was only about two days. He'd been working late at the studio these past nights on the new album.

Walking into my room, I opened the bottom drawer which contained Zayn's things. His iPod and the ring box which still had the little note inside both laid on top of his folded shirt. I took a moment to look at the silver band around my finger, feeling a whirlwind of emotions rush over me - anger, happiness, sadness.

Zayn thought I pretended to care about these, that they meant nothing to me and that I was leading him on ... If only he knew how much I loved that damn shirt, that stupid message, and the ring on my finger. If only he knew ...

It was after dinner time when I received a text from someone. My arm reached over but my eyes remained locked on the television screen. I was rewatching The Fault in Our Stars since I hadn't seen it since the first time it came out in theatre.
