Chapter 63
Mia's POV
"I'm really nervous," I told Zayn when we stopped at a large house in the middle of a welcoming neighborhood. The streets were small as always, a few people strolled by with dogs and their children.
"Why?" His voice was rather amused than worried.
"Meeting new people," I answered as he turned in the driver's seat to face me.
"Hey, you've met new people before. Me, my boys, Mark, your clients. You met loads of people, why is this any different?"
I don't know - maybe the fact that I was not even supposed to be here.
"You're right," I shook my head. "I'm being unreasonable."
"It's normal to feel uneasy with strangers but you probably won't talk to more than half the people there. I don't want you to feel like you don't belong here okay? You'll be fine. "I leaned into his hand as it slowly caressed my cheek. "You're gonna stay here while I go to the rehearsal dinner alright?" He handed me a gold toned key but I only stared at it, not sure why he was already leaving when we had arrived two seconds ago.
"Whose house does that belong to?"
"Hazza's. He bought one here not too long ago," he briefly explained.
"Hazza? Really?" I mentioned and he chuckled. "And how did you have the key?"
"We're best friends."
"Oh." That made sense. I guess they're comfortable with each other enough to lend their house keys. "Well, is he still inside? Why don't you say hi?"
"No, he told me he'd be with the boys all day," he explained. "You're always too curious for your own good sometimes," he smiled, quickly placing his hand on the back of my neck, jerking me forward just enough before our noses bumped into one another. My eyes widened at our close proximity as I felt his hot breath loitering on my lips. I was waiting for his pursuit but instead he moved up, his lips pressing against my forehead. "I'll see you when I get back," he whispered.
"Yeah," I gulped, taking the key from his hand.
Stepping out of the car and onto the stable concrete was a relief. We'd been on the road for four hours which would usually be very long for me but with Zayn, it was more bearable. Being with him distracted me from the clock and so everything went by too quickly.
I was waving my hand goodbye to my sweet distraction in the car as he drove off. When I opened the gate of the white picket fence that surrounded the two red brick story house, I heard someone honk their horn from behind me.
"I miss you already," Zayn shouted through the passenger window after rolling it down.
The smile plastered on my face could be seen from miles away as I took in his words.
"Hurry up before you're late," I replied before he really took off along with that smirk of his.
Green vines rooted itself around the home's exterior, there were a few white rose bushes planted by the door, except some of them looked kind of rusty since it was getting close to the end of October.
I fumbled with the key for a bit before it finally opened. When I stepped inside, I was astonished by the openness of the room. There were no walls - absolutely none that separated each room. The lounge on my left had red leather couches and in front of them a flat screen, and to my right was just space, decorated with abstract pieces of artwork. Harry wouldn't mind me exploring his home, would he?
"Hey!" A voice yelled from the direction of the stairs. Out of shock, I let out a loud yelp and dropped the key that Zayn had given me.
"Harry!" I pushed my hair back in relief. "What are you doing here?"
