Chapter 84
Mia's POV
It was getting dark and the last time I ate was this morning with Waliyha. I missed her already. She was like the younger sister I never had. I loved how Zayn was always the subject of her teasing, how she found a way to make things fun, the way she thought. It was refreshing to spend time with such a lively and young girl. When I was her age, I had to be an adult quickly, had to learn things myself. Sure I had Linda along the way and a few management advisors for my business, but I didn't feel that supported. A feeling that I so badly wanted to be there, was never there.
"You hungry?" Zayn asked interrupting my thoughts. "We could make a quick stop at a restaurant."
"And get mauled over by your fans?" I retorted. "Let's save it for another night."
"Suit yourself," he spoke, a miniscule grin appearing on his lips.
"Are you really not telling me where you're taking me?"
"You'll know soon enough, Mia." He knew I was dying of curiosity.

"Snowboarding?" I asked, keeping my gaze on the large ski resort. The snow hill was massive, completely intimidating. The high slope was illuminating from the lights since it was already dark out. This was our first public appearance as an engaged couple, repeating Zayn's words. "You're serious?"
"Yeah, you up for it?" Without a reply, he unlocked the door and stepped out of the car.
"No, I'm not," I mumbled to myself.
I have never snowboarded nor ski'd nor went down an icy hill at a speed of thirty mph in my life .. ever. Was it too late to turn back? I better prepare myself for a whole lot of bruises since falling would be inevitable. I was athletic, but sports was not really my thing other than running and weights. This was not going to be fun.
"Unless you're too scared to go," Zayn taunted me as he opened my side.
"Scared?" I laughed at him. "I've faced Death himself in the face, this is nothing."
He pouted his bottom lip, nodding his head, clearly satisfied with my reply.
"We could have brought your sister along, she would have liked this," I said, getting out from my seat.
"Maybe. But mum would never allow it." He shut the passenger door and opened the back one.
"Why not?"
"Let's just say .. That my mother is the over protective one out of my parents." That she was, I would know. He pulled out two suitcases, a black one and mine.
"You planned this?" When did he have time to pack our things? He went through my things...why wasn't I surprised.
"No, your father .. To make our relationship more believable, he called me yesterday to take you out - somewhere."
"So if it wasn't for him, we wouldn't even be here," I concealed the disappoinment in my voice.
"I guess," Zayn shrugged.
"How long are we going to have to stay here for?"
"Sunday night. Don't worry, I know you don't want to be late for you first day of work," Zayn walked towards the entrance of the ski lodge and I hesitantly followed.
I repeat, this was not going to be fun.
When we walked in, I could already sense the people around us start to murmur and turn their heads to the 'famous' couple that just entered the building. I knew being with Zayn would feel like this, I knew privacy would be something I'd have to give up. I think I'd be more comfortable if Zayn and I were actually in a real relationship. At least I'd feel a little safer.
