Chapter 85

Mia's POV

"Yep, it's certain, I'm going to die here," I repeat for the third time as I close my eyes, holding tightly onto the bar in front of me. I was unsure of this ski lift and I grew even more skeptical when I realized the seats didn't have seatbelts. Plus I was walking with skis on my feet and that did not help much at all with getting on. I was holding onto Zayn's arm for dear life when the seat neared our bums.

"You're fine. Open your eyes!" He demanded and I shook my head in protest. "Just don't look down."

"You saying that is only going to make me look in that direction."

"How are you going to get off if you keep your eyes closed?"

He was right about that but even with my eyes open, I'd still trip and fall when we reach the drop off.

Mustering up some courage, I opened one eye first then the other, completely awed at the beautiful sight. The view was breathtaking, the snow slowly falling down, a few people going down the white, curvy slope, the evergreen pine trees that outlined the hill.

"It's .. "

"A winter wonderland?" Zayn finished my thought and I nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, exactly."

It was definitely a winter wonderland.

We reached the end and as I predicted, it was a struggle to keep my legs straight and stable as I jumped off the seat. I heard Zayn laughing at me and I pretended to be annoyed, even though it was endearing to see him in such a high spirited mood. I thought I'd never see this side of him again.

"I'll help you," he offered and before I could refuse, he took my hands and pulled me to the side so that we were far enough from the conveyer without us having to block the automatic machine.

"You take much pleasure in my suffering, don't you Mr. Malik?"

"I do actually," he chuckled. "Those are cute," he gestured to my mittens with the pig face at the fingers.

"They are, aren't they?" I marveled at them.

"You buy too many pig related things."

"I do not!"

"Yes you do. It's like your addiction. One, you have pajamas with pigs on them, two, an umbrella, and now you have mittens with pig faces on them and I have a pretty logical hunch as to why you buy so many pig items. Do you want to hear it?"

"Even if I didn't want to, you'd still tell me," I said, crossing my arms, ready to listen to his theory.

"You're a 'pig' headed woman."

I gaped at his crude remark as the smile on his face grew. "Pig headed?!"

"Yeah, you're stubborn and relentless."

Oh, I'll show you how stubborn and relentless this pigheaded woman is, Zayn Javadd Malik.

My lips clamped together as I bent down, quickly rolled a ball of snow the size of my fist and threw it at him, my aim spot on as it smacked him right in his perfect face. I laughed uncontrollably while pointing my finger as he stared at me in utter shock.

"No throwing snowballs please!" A young woman shouted our way and I tried to stifle my laugh as I apologized.

"I'll get you back later," he said, trudging over to the other side of the hill as I continued giggling to myself.

I tried my best to ski over, pulling myself with those stick thingys that come along with the skis. I was sure they had a name, I just didn't know at the moment. The struggle was real as I looked up to see that Zayn was way ahead of me and I had only moved ten feet from the ski lift.
