Chapter 99

Mia's POV

The flight wasn't as bad as I thought. Being stuck in small space such as an airplane for about twelve hours sounded unquestionably intimidating but Zayn's hand on mine was enough comfort to make it through the time. Every now and then, we'd hit a little bump, causing the airplane to shake, making me squeeze Zayn's hand tighter. And after that he'd give me a reassuring look and give the back of my left hand a soft kiss.

Twelve hours later, we finally arrived at our destination. I felt completely exhausted, despite all the sleep I had acquired on the plane. As we waited for the airplane to empty, Zayn held my hand in his, catching me by surprise. I looked over to the tired singer by the window seat as he gave me a reassuring smile.

"We're finally here," he mumbled quietly as he buried his head on my shoulder.

"Now can you tell me the reason why we're here?" I asked.

"Almost.." I could feel him grinning.

I shook my head, chuckling at his reservedness and my hasty eagerness . Even though I felt fatigued, my ears dying from the altering pressure, I was content. Content that I was here with Zayn. That I didn't let myself deprive myself of this moment right now because being by his side, spending time with him was what I needed to do before Christmas Day came.

To my surprise, Zayn bought tickets in economy rather than first class. He explained to me that he wanted to do things normally like others would do, not the Zayn Malik fashion and pull the private jet card. I really admired his spirit to be normal. Zayn was normal, I remember myself saying. He was. He was the same boy, the man child I fell in love with. The only thing different was how much we had hurt each other.

I wished we could have worked through things together. I wished we could have persevered through our problems. But with everything said and done, it was all too much to bear.

Once we got off the plane and changed our money at customs, it was around nine in the morning. We got a taxi cab with an English interpreter. Zayn asked the nice lady to take us to the nearest market and she recommended the Chatuchak Market. Apparently it was one of the most famous weekend famous markets in all of South East Asia and there were about 5,000 stalls open selling almost everything and anything. By the tone of her voice, it did seem like a very popular location.

The market was absolutely like the woman had described. On top was the large sign that read the native language and in English, 'Welcome to Jatuchak Plaza; Shopping everyday select whatever you want'. There were a few tourists among the Thai population. The colorful stalls, the smell of foreign food, the hot and humid air was such a nice contrary from the weather in London right now. It was so much to take in.

"You hungry?" Zayn asked and I nodded. I was starving. The last thing I ate were the complimentary peanuts from the plane and I didn't even like peanuts that much.

Zayn laced his fingers with mine and led the way through the crowd and I happily place my other hand over his as I followed him.

The first stall we stopped was a food one. Luckily the young girl spoke a little English so we were able to order without any language barrier issues. Zayn had about two pork meatball sticks while I had about four. They were really tasty and one could dip them in this sweet orange sauce. We also ordered a spicy papaya salad which was one of the best things I've ever had. Zayn, on the other hand, begged to differ, stating that it was way too spicy. I only requested two peppers.
