Chapter 51
Mia's POV
"Morning, Mia!" A childish voice rang in my ears and my bed suddenly started to shake. "Wake up Mia!" The voice continued to pester.
I groaned in protest and covered my ears with my pillow. The voice murmured something I couldn't pick up, causing my eyes to peek at who it was. The sunlight behind the little bowl haired cut figure faded his face from my sight.
"Elliot?" I said his name lazily. I forgot they came over last night.
"Yes, it's me!" He giggled and stopped galloping around the bed, kneeing down at my side.
"Why are you so full of energy today?" I asked, gently pinching his chubby cheeks.
"Because .. Just because."
His answer reminded me of Zayn. Both of them didn't need a big vocabulary to respond to my questions, or any questions in general. Althought it wasn't satisfactory to my liking.
"Where's your mother?" I ask him.
"She's making breakfast. She told me to come fetch you."
"Okay. You go first. I'll be down in a bit." I told him and he obliged, scampering outside my door.
After washing my face, I threw on a random dark grey v-neck on with a pair of red sweatpants.
The sound of something sizzling from the kitchen becomes louder as I walked through the living room. The dining table was filled with breakfast condiments - maple syrup, a half stick of margarine, jam and jellies, and of course - pancakes and waffles.
"What is all this?" I asked baffled at the delicious scene.
"You finally decided to come down," Winnie's voice called out from behind the stove.
"Mia, come sit by me!" Elliot shouted from his seat at the dining table.
"Okay, okay. I'm coming."
As I sat on the chair next to the little boy, Winnie came over with a plate of sausages. Goodness, these two were out to get me gain weight. They knew how much I couldn't resist food.
"How was your sleep?" Winnie asked, taking a muffin from the center of the table.
"It was good. Better than usual."
"Do you have any plans? Elliot and I wanted to do some finger painting later."
"No, I never have any plans," I laugh. "I'd love to join you two," I poked my fork in two sausage links to my plate. "So Elliot .. Why'd you want to see me so badly? You know it's not always good that your mother gives you everything you want."
"Because..." he stopped as his eyes searched for an answer in his head. ".. you looked really sad."
"When did I look sad?"
"Grandmama's fume-a-wol." It didn't take a genius to figure out what the word was: funeral. This little boy sensed the real emotions I was hiding behind the mask I was wearing that day. He really was extraordinarily adorable and intuitive.
"Do you miss her, Elliot? Is that why you wanted come here?"
He nodded. "I had a dream about her and she told me to come see you."
Well, that was kind of creepy. And cool, I guess.
"Why didn't you tell me that, honey?" Winnie asked and he shrugged his shoulders.
"Well," I started. "I'm glad you're here, Elliot. I think I'm gonna head out for my run now. Don't want to jog on a full stomach." I stood up and gave Elliot a smile before I left. "I'm glad she told you to come see me.."
