Mia's POV
7 o'clock couldn't come any sooner.
I've been staring at the clock in my office all day, checking the what time it was once in a while but every time I looked up, it was as if a minute hadn't even passed.
Who knew I would be surprisingly excited about such a childish matter like a date. Ever since Zayn asked me last night, a wave of energy propelled me to pick out my outfit for the evening. The pieces of clothing weren't that extravagant, a pair of black skinnies with a beige flowy, chiffon top, since it was only a movie but I still found the task entertaining.
When I arrived at the cinemas, the lot was completely barren. No cars, not one person walking to or from the entrance. When the clock in my car changed to seven, I blew out a huff of air and stepped out into the cold air. I was thankful that I decided to wear the chucks on my feet instead a pair of flats. The snow would be eating at my toes by now.
Searching the area inside the theatre, there wasn't anyone in sight except the employee, patiently waiting for movie goers. He gave me a smile and I did the same. This was a cinema, right? Concessions stand, check. Ticket admissions, check. Movie posters of upcoming films on every wall, check.
Pretty sure this was what they called a theatre.
I decided to take a seat at a nearby bench to wait for him. Taking a second, I pulled out my phone and texted Zayn that I was here. Minutes passed but no response replied back.
"Are you Miss Vance?" A low voice asked me.
My eyes searched for the source of the voice and it was the man from earlier.
"Yes, I am."
"Mr. Malik, you're partner, won't be able to make it tonight due to work issues."
The sudden news made my heart sank to the floor. How could I have been so blind, so stupid. I knew this was too good to be true. Something always had to come up that ruined our plans.
"Oh, um. Okay, thank you," I muttered as I stood to my feet, fixing the strap of my bag on my shoulder.
"Wait," he said as soon as I turned to leave. "Under strict order from Mr. Malik, you must watch the movie he prepared for you."
"Thank you but I think won't be able to tonight."
"But he has booked the entire facility just for you."
"He what?" I almost dropped my phone from hearing what he just revealed. It was obvious, wasn't it? There wasn't any people, nor a single vehicle in the lot. It made so much more sense.
"It'd be a shame to let the money go to waste, or think of it this way, it'd be a shame not to eat all the popcorn you can have, all the Edy's ice cream dibbs," the employee rubbed his tummy while giving me a dodgy grin.
"He's paying for all this?"
"Yes, and I'm sorry but he won't let you leave until you've seen the entire film."
"I - I .. Better go," I turned to leave again but he held onto my wrist, stopping me.
"Please watch the movie! I can't be fired from another job!" He literally begged as he went down on his knees. "If you don't watch the movie, your fiancé will have me fired. Please, for my sake, just watch the movie.."
