Chapter 100
Mia's POV
The last two days when we got back from Thailand, Zayn and I had to catch up on our sleep. When we awoke, it was around six at night and Zayn brought up his promise to shop for furniture together. I told him he didn't have to but he insisted.
The next day was Christmas Eve. We spent most of the day just talking and wrapping our Christmas gifts for his family. Zayn even got something for Elliot - a transformer toy. Not just any autobot, but one who speaks and transforms at the press of a button. He sounded so geeky as he tried to explain the mechanics of it.
After we, well I mostly since Zayn wasn't the most functional at using wrapping paper and tape, finished wrapping and labeling the gifts, it was quarter past four and Zayn suggested we go out to eat. I wasn't one to refuse food, plus the jolly atmosphere around this time of year was always nice to be around.
Zayn made some reservations at Le Meiux's while I got dressed. The place was rather a fancy, high class restaurant so I was forced to wear something formal. When I searched through the closet, it wasn't hard to decide which dress I wanted to wear for our Christmas Eve dinner even though there were only like four dresses I could choose from.

"Mia, are you ready yet?" Zayn knocked on the door. "It's been over an hour and our reservation is at six thirty."
"Yes, I'm done," I said as I threw the last thing in the suitcase and shut it.
I walked to open the door and saw Zayn all dressed in a grey tuxedo, his hair down, and his face shaven. Handsome as always.
"Why are you wearing that dress?" Zayn asked and I looked down at the purple garment.
"Why can't I? You bought it for me for the wedding, remember?"
"That's exactly why you can't wear it," he looked away for a moment. "Because that dress only holds bad memories for you."
"Who said they were bad memories?" I took a step closer to him and laid a hand on his cheek. "There were good ones too. And those are the ones I will choose to remember." His hand curled around mine, bringing it to his lips as he kissed the palm of my hand.

What happened after the waiter takes your order and leaves for forever and never returns for another half hour?
Conversation happens. Naturally too if you're lucky.
Except Zayn and I didn't have any conversation. Occasionally our eyes met and we'd smile at each other. And for the first time in a long time, I noticed that comfortable silence again.
"Did you buy me any gifts?" Zayn broke the silence.
"No, I didn't. I'm sorry, I just thought --."
"Good," he replied.
"You didn't buy me one, did you?"
He shook his head and I quietly exhaled a breath of relief. I did want to buy him something. Only problem was, I didn't know what he wanted nor what he needed. He had almost everything already.
"The No Presents Rule, let's call it," he said and I raised a brow in confusion.
"The No Presents Rule?"
