Special - Zoo Mayhem

Okay, let's be clear. When Percy agreed to go to the zoo, he thought that it would just be him, Annabeth, Leo and maybe some of the other demigods. He certainly didn't think that the Avengers (minus Thor) would be coming along. 

Tony was a famous multi-billionaire for gods' sake! He couldn't walk around in public without a bunch of reporters snapping his photo or whatever. And Percy couldn't risk HYDRA knowing that he was pals with the Avengers either. 

After complaining quite thoroughly while they were seated in the car, Tony nodded and snapped his fingers as he thought of a revelation. 

"Why don't I just get the zoo to take the day off so we can go?" he asked. Everyone stared at him.

"You mean, you're going to reserve the entire zoo for us?" Steve said slowly. 

"Yeah! How much can it cost?" Tony scoffed, ushering them into the cars and driving out. The second car was programmed to follow the first one (which Tony was driving) since he didn't trust anyone to drive his precious vehicles. 

During the entire ride, Tony was talking on the Bluetooth earpiece to someone. Occasionally he would start talking in a very low and demanding voice, but then later he would turn all cheerful and happy. 

"Bipolar," Percy muttered under his breath. 

Percy couldn't help but notice the way people tried to stay as far away from the cars while they were driving, and how the other drivers kept a very safe distance away from them. Luckily, the windows were tinted so no one could take a picture of the inside. 

When they arrived, the gates to the zoo were closed, and people were crowded around looking pissed off and upset. 

"Are you sure this was a good idea?" Percy asked, just as a bunch of workers came out from the zoo and started handing out free stuffed toys for the kids and free tickets to the adults. 

"Yes, I'm sure," Tony smirked. The gates opened slowly, and the cars drove inside. 

"So, where should we go first?" Leo asked as he opened the map. "Maybe we should split up?"

"Yes! Good idea Leo, Annabeth and I will go look at the owls," Percy shouted, snatching up a map from the stand and running off, dragging Annabeth with him. The rest of the group stared at them as the faded into the distance.

"Well then," Natasha muttered. 

The remaining people begrudgingly sorted themselves out into groups. Leo went with Piper and Jason to see the lions (the other people were at the camps sorting stuff out), and the Avengers went to see the hawks and reptiles (Bruce didn't want to come). 

Percy was happy that he got to walk around with Annabeth without anyone else with them. When they got to the owls, Annabeth began to coo at them and even opened the cage so that she could pat them. 

"I should get you an owl," Percy said after a few minutes. Annabeth whirled around, her eyes wide and shining with anticipation. 

"Really?" 

"Yes, maybe for your birthday or something," Percy nodded thoughtfully as he considered it more deeply. 

McFluffy jumped off from his shoulder, floating in the air before flying towards the owl and chirping excitedly. Percy almost had a heart attack when its greyish fur started to shimmer and change colours. 

And he practically died when McFluffy suddenly changed into a barn owl. 

"What the heck?" he shouted, staring at the owl that was flying around his head. Annabeth also had a weirded out look on her face as she watched the alien/owl flying around and cooing happily.
