Percy had flooded the bathroom. Not on purpose, of course. He just walked into the bathroom to wash the remaining stains off his clothes when his hands, acting on their own, brought out the black sword and started to hack away at the sink.
Now it lay in chunks on the floor, and water spurted up from the decimated pipes like blood from an artery. He had just let the water escape, watching as it filled the floor. He didn't let the water escape from the cracks in the door and waited patiently for the level to rise further and further.
Eventually, he got bored of waiting and started to destroy the toilets as well.
In fact, he got so into the mood that he let himself get soaked to the bone, just to feel a little more. After he grew tired of everything, Percy let the water escape from under the door and went outside to find the rest of the team.
As he walked, he gained a few odd looks, especially when the water began to hiss and evaporate rapidly from his body.
He found Fury, Hill, Steve, and Tony gathered around a table. The same one where they had been talking at before. As he approached, he saw the somber looks on their faces, and he instantly knew that they had been informed of Coulson's death.
"Hi," Percy greeted as he sat down on one of the chairs.
No one replied. Wordlessly, Fury tossed something onto the table, where it landed with a small thud, smearing red on to the glass.
Collecting cards, Percy guessed when he saw them. He clenched his hands underneath the table, itching to grab out Riptide and give Fury the scare of his life.
Steve slowly reached over and picked up the card that was stained with red. He turned it in his hands, not saying a single word.
Fury walked over to them. "I lost my one good-"
At that point, Percy leapt from the chair and stumbled away from them, not wanting to hear any more of Fury's speech. He walked away out of hearing distance and rested his forehead on one of the metal walls.
He could hear his heart beating wildly in his chest like a herd of stampeding animals, and he closed his eyes. All he could see was the colour of copper blood and the flames that licked the edges of his vision, threatening to drown him.
A few minutes later, Tony also stood up abruptly, running a hand over his face and walked away. Strangely enough, Percy felt relieved that he was affected by Coulson's death, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to call Tony human anymore.
Once the two other members of the team had left, Percy leapt up from the chair, lunging angrily at Fury.
"You bastard! Those weren't on Coulson at the time of his death! Where did you get the cards from?" he growled, grabbing Fury by the collar and shaking.
Hill didn't even bother to try and stop him, she also wanted to know why Fury faked the cards.
"They needed the push," Fury replied calmly. This only infuriated Percy even more.
Pushing Fury away, he uncapped Riptide and pointed the sword at the director's chest. "Was Coulson just a tool for you? Are you even upset that he's gone?" he asked quietly.
"I am very upset," Fury said. What ruined his touching words was that he still had the same expression as before.
Percy swept his leg under Fury, easily knocking him to the ground, and before Hill could stop him, he stabbed Riptide into Fury's chest.
Well, obviously it went right through, but it was the thought that counted.
Taking a gasp of air, Fury sighed in relief when he realised he hadn't be skewered to the floor like a shishkebab. Hill also let out an internal sigh of relief, happy that she wouldn't have to arrest Percy or something like that.
"I hate people like you the most," Percy hissed before he turned and walked away briskly. Fury's lack of regret, and the way that he manipulated people reminded Percy vaguely of Kronos, and he absolutely hated it. He knew that it wasn't the director's fault, but right now he needed someone to blame for everything that happened.
Eventually, he knew that he would put the blame on himself, but until that moment came, it was Fury that he was angry at.
"Percy? Are you ready to go?"
Turning around tiredly, Percy found himself facing Steve. "Where?" he asked.
"Back to New York, we think Loki's going to do something there," Steve replied.
"Okay," Percy agreed, following Steve as they walked along the broken and crackling corridors of the plane. After picking up Natasha and a newly unzombified Barton, they continued on to find a jet.
"Long time no see," Barton said wryly when he saw Percy.
"That's a good thing," Percy said with a small smile.
"You!" Clint glared at him, and both of them engaged in an intense glaring contest. One with sparks flying and everything.
"Children, back off," Natasha said, giving them a glare of her own. They gulped and instantly snapped their eyes to the front.
When they eventually found a plane, the pilot stood up awkwardly before saying, "you guys aren't meant to be here."
"Hey! It's that pilot from that time!" Percy exclaimed, pointing in surprise.
The pilot visibly paled as the blood drained from his face. "Actually, good luck," he said, fleeing out of the plane.
"That was easier than expected," Steve noted.
Strapping themselves in, the team waited for Natasha to fly the thing.
Percy put his hand in his other pocket and found his phone. "Sweet," he mumbled, bring the device out and testing to see if it worked. It did, and the lock screen appeared with a keypad for him to type his password. "Even better."
Once he was in, Percy instantly went to his contacts to call Annabeth. The phone rung twice before she picked up.
"Hey Perce, how are you?" her sweet voice asked. Percy took a moment to appreciate how Annabeth always picked up no matter what. She was certainly in University at the moment.
"I'm fine, can you do me a favour?" he asked.
"Sure, what's up?"
"Tell Blackjack to bring some of his most agile friends to Stark Tower for me."
"Sure," Annabeth said slowly, trying to work out why he needed a bunch of pegasi. "Are you sure you're okay?"
"One hundred percent sure. And Annabeth, after this is all over, do you want to go to the aquarium with me?" Percy asked her.
"Okay," she agreed happily, Percy could tell from her voice.
"And Annabeth, thank you," he added, feeling slightly embarrassed when he said it. She also paused for a second, as if thinking about what he meant.
"I don't know what I did, but no problem!" she laughed brightly on the other side, and to Percy, it sounded like bells in the rain.
Staring at his phone that rested in his lap, Percy became aware that the rest of the team was looking at him.
"Cute," Natasha said from her place in the cockpit.
That's all from me! School holidays start after next Friday, so I might update more. Keyword, might.
