R flicked through the files that were stacked on top of his desk, tossing a few in the trash and throwing a few on the floor that he would have to read. He considered burning them all, but last time he did that the fire alarms went off, his snack stash got soaked by the emergency sprinklers, and the entire building went into lockdown.

Yeah, maybe not such a great idea. Still, he put the snacks in the desk drawer just in case. He had just sorted the 453rd sheet of paper when the building suddenly shook, and he heard footsteps running to his office.

'Please don't come into my office', he thought desperately, wanting nothing more than to leave and go tinker with some electronics or something. His thoughts were ignored (as per usual), and seconds later his door slammed open.

In fact, it was thrown open so hard that it hit the wall, cracked it slightly, and then rebounded and smacked the person coming inside in the face.

"Ack!" the person shouted in pain, clutching their nose and falling to the floor. R looked down at him with a raised eyebrow and decided to ignore him. He glanced over a few moments later when there was no sound from the man and him cupping his hands over his face.

"Are you bleeding?" he asked suspiciously.

There was a brief silence until the main whispered, "yes".

R glared at him. "Get up, you're going to get blood on my carpet," he muttered as he grabbed the tissue box and chucked it at the man.

He stood slowly, tilting his head backwards and quickly grabbing a handful of tissues. "Sorry sir, it was an emergency."

"Right," R muttered. He saw that the man was Jacobi, one of the less annoying trainees who were in his department. His glare changed from an 'I'm-going-to-hunt-you-and-your-family-and-friends-down-and-murder-you-all-with-a-blunt-sword' to an 'if-you-don't-hurry-up-and-speak-I'll-break-your-bones' glare.

R had a very expressive face.

Jacobi instantly understood his expression and hurried to explain the situation.

"Sir, the person who invaded, um, I mean, the person we kidnapped has started fighting and has knocked mo-most of the guards unconscious. We ne-need your help," he stammered.

Holding up the stack of paper in his hands, R gave the man a look of exasperation. "I'm busy," he said.

The building rumbled again, and there was a distinctive crash as one of the pillars collapsed. "Sir! I'm sorry for interrupting you, but the building is going to collapse!" Jacobi yelped, ducking out of the way as a piece of the ceiling fell down.

"Hm, I'll think about it," R mumbled, going back to his stack of paper.

There was a knock on the door and his assistant (an annoying woman who never shuts up) walked in, holding a shattered device.

"R, how ni-" she began. Blinking in surprise when a flash of black passed her, she turned around to see R strolling away with his hands in his pockets.

"I'm going to help," R supplied helpfully, and Jacobi rushed to follow him, stuffing a few more tissues in his pocket before he went.

It wasn't difficult to pinpoint where the chaos was coming from, flashes from guns and gradually growing destruction of the rooms told him exactly where the invader was. He took off his right glove and paused behind a corner.

Preparing himself and slowly peeking out from behind the corner, he jumped back in surprise when piercing sea-green eyes snapped to look at him.

"Who are you?" he asked. Muffled shouts from bound and gagged trainees tried to distract him, but he ignored them. He didn't even blink.

The teenager tilted his head, a black sword in his hand. Jacobi trembled. R shifted slightly, and the kid mirrored his movements. A shiver ran down his spine. The kid was trained.

"I won't attack you if you don't attack me," R said, raising his hands and stepping out from behind the wall. The teenager didn't move.

When R was close enough, he slowly placed his gun down on the floor. The teenager, as he expected, leaned down to pick up the gun. Instantly, he lashed out with a stream of fire. A hiss of steam pierced the air, and he watched in utter astonishment as the flames died out.

"So predictable," the kid sighed, slicing the gun in half. "If you're going to kidnap me, can you at least be worth fighting?"

Stunned, R asked, "excuse me? What do you mean?"

"I mean, can you not try to kidnap me, fail, and then attack me when I follow your failed kidnapper back?" the kid said slowly, enunciating each word properly.

R laughed. "Okay, okay, I get you now. I'm sorry, my name's R, and I work here for HYDRA. I don't know which idiot ordered for you to be kidnapped, but it's all just a misunderstanding," he said. He didn't want to fight the teenager, who was clearly good for his age. Wasting energy didn't appeal to him much at the moment.

"Right," the kid muttered, rolling his eyes. R looked at him closely, seeing his anxious foot tapping and the dark shadow in his eyes that signalled a hunger for a fight.

"Tell you what, why don't you work with me at HYDRA?" R offered. He had never seen someone who could withstand his fire, and he wanted to learn more about the kid's abilities. A chance like this wouldn't come again in his lifetime, he was sure of it.

"No way," the kid scoffed, tapping his sword on the ground. It swirled and morphed into a small pin, which he put on his shirt. "Why would I join you guys?"

"You can go on missions for us," R supplied.

"I'm not going to kill anyone," the kid shot back.

"You don't have to. If you work with me, all you will have to do is play with your powers and engage in a few small fights," R smiled.

"I don't need you people to do that," he shrugged.

Still smiling, R added, "we can get you access to government files." He was right, the kid did have a power, and he was going to find out about it no matter what.

"I'm not going to be an underling or a regular," the kid said, sounding more convinced.

"Of course," R nodded. "If you follow me, we can go and discuss this."

The kid stepped over a few people and walked to him. "You can call me J," he murmured when he passed R. Satisfaction and excitement lit up his eyes in an almost unnerving way. Clearly, he had come to HYDRA for a purpose, and R had a feeling that it was to get his blood running.

"Alright, J, let's go to my office."

Hello, long time no see. As you can see, this is more of a filler chapter, explaining how R met Percy. I will be editing and changing many of the chapters, some with slight edits some with more important edits. This will take some time, and I will republish all the chapters when I finish. Sorry, but I wanted to fix the storyline before uploading more chapters because it would only get more messed up.

Thanks for reading and sticking with the story,
