Chapter Twelve - Well, I'll be damned

Monday evening

Cole didn't try anything last night, not that he wasn't going too. I just told him I still hurt and I didn't feel good. He decided to then tell me to lay on my front while he massaged my shoulders, as well as all of my back and spine. He had undone my bandages so he could do the small of my back too. He said most of the scratches had healed up; there were just a few still open and lots of bruising, so he would rebadged them when he was finished.

I don't know what he did, but oh my God, it felt so good! I fell asleep smiling with his arm round my waist and my head on his chest. Goofy grin n all. I felt much better, than how I had felt earlier that day.

School was boring as hell, Lisha had me in stitches this morning, then I was talking to Jay this afternoon, oh my, I swear he was high. I got random messages like *isn't it a beautiful day* and *I'm so happy* I mean, drugged much? Ha-ha.

Cole came and got me from school early, and then we went to the yard because apparently there was this new guy there, with a new horse that needed settling in. So I was doing it. Cole insisted, he do all my jobs and I sit in a wheel barrow while he pushed me around. Then I saw this guy, and I sort of recognised him. /well, I'll be damned/ I thought. It was Ben, coppery brown hair, jeans and a black t-shit.

He said hi and we talked for a bit, then the horsebox pulled up. I told him I had to go, so Cole wheeled me over until I could see the horsebox. It was shaking as if it was in a tornado. The sides banged every now and again when the horse kicked it. Screeched neighs poured out of it. Was it a herd or just the one horse? That was my thought.

'Someone going to tell me what the hell is in there!?' I shouted. People were standing in a ring around the horsebox. I was still in the wheel barrow, with Cole standing on one side, and Ben on the other.

'That's my horse,' Ben said. I frowned.

'You're the new guy? No offence, but you don't look like the kinda person who has horses,' I said.

'That,' - Ben pointed at the shaking horsebox - 'Is not a horse, so it doesn't count,'

'Okay, well what is it?' I rolled my yes.

'Her name is Charm,' he said, I raised an eyebrow, 'don't look at me like that, I didn't name her. She's a nine year old Holstein,'

'Nice breed. What company does she prefer? Mares or geldings?'

'Stallions, she is a bit of a slut if I'm honest, but geldings work.'

'Cole, can you help me up please?' I smiled. He smiled weakly and scooped me out of the barrow.

'I do not think it wise you go near that horse, in your condition.' Ben frowned.

'Cole, no one else is brave enough to get her out. I don't mind,' I walked over to the box and pulled the ramp down.

There was no denying that the mare was gorgeous. She was a dark bay, with a blaze running down her face, three white socks and evil eyes. Yeah, she was gorgeous, but she was flipping out. From what I could see, head collar had come untied; the lead rope was flapping around. She reared up, her nose flaring.
