Claire's POV
I chased Bella into the street when a gray car teared around the corner. Bella stopped for a split second to scream as I reached out to grab her hand. But it was too late.
The car rushed in front of me and Bella disappeared beneath it. I gasped as the car kept going. A hit and run.
I stared at the sight on the ground and immediately called 911 and then Caleb.

Claire's POV
The doctor stepped in the room and sat in his chair next to Bella's hospital bed. "She has 53 broken bones. She is now paralyzed and has brain damage. It's all wheelchairs now. No more walking. She's going to be in a coma for at least 48 more hours. Have a nice life."
I shuddered. Bella was now going through what I went through when I was her age.
