Life seemed to be a whirlwind of emotions the last few months for everyone. Stef and Lena were currently taking a break, needing time to figure things out, and if they were going to get back together and when. Did it kill the both of them in some way, yes.

Lena felt lonely, longing to understand Stef more and more than she had. Longing to know her better but knowing the two needed space and she needed it herself.

The fighting had gotten to her soul and so did the intensity of it as she decided to fly back to San Diego for the summer since school was out and hang out in many of her old spots that she missed.

Each morning, she went for jogs with Jenna and yoga classes, and she enjoyed her biking on the beach. A few times, she had run into Mike, but the two didn't speak as she still saw the hurt on his face.

She felt a good amount of hurt and guilt for how she had broken it off with him for a woman she barely knew as Jenna's words continued to haunt her.

Was being with Stef convenient at the time, and did she give her the reason to leave Mike? Did she make it easier to leave a marriage she was unhappy in and give up everything for someone she barely knew?

The affair had caused a great deal of damage as each day she thought more and more of what she would do with her life and where it was going to go.

She had heard from Stef only twice once when she was drunk, and she left her a message that Lena did not respond to. Frankie had also texted her a few times just to say hi, and the slim woman responded, of course.

The young girl was still so desperate for help to find her birth mother, and Lena felt so horrible about it, for she was right under Frankie's nose. Stef was right there, but it wasn't in Lena's hand to make that known it just wasn't.

However, even if her and Stef didn't know each other in the way, they thought she still missed her and the times before she witnessed her sinking. Was their relationship really just fun and games, fucking and making love.

Was that really all there was to it? If it was how could they function in the real world as a couple? Or would they ever be a couple. Lena didn't know as she deleted that drunk message from a woman she had fallen so hard for but was trying to forget.

Stef dived into work as the break with Lena was hurting her as well no matter how hard she tried to forget it. The pain was like a knife and she had no fucking idea how it even happened.

Of course she blamed her temper, her lack of control, and her inability to remain consistent in any romantic relationship from pure fear. Did she miss her? Yes, but she did not miss the arguing or the feeling of Lena acting as her therapist.

With Jude attending a sleepaway camp for the summer, and Callie still in Girls United the blonde was alone and working more hours than usual to pass the time.

She was also working hard on laying off old habits but a few nights she had drank far to much regretting it in the morning when she nursed numerous hangovers. Many of those old demons would just come back to haunt her and she caved.

Cave hard at times but she resisted the urge to go out and fuck. It was unfortunate that at times when she was drunk she left a message on Lena's voicemail.

She wasn't begging but she had let her know how hurt she was causing a bigger wedge between them.

However most days she remained sober and would visit Frankie at the diner and the two would talk for hours.

In her mind she felt terrible for misleading the girl and had come close more than once to admitting who she was as she continued to leave her generous tips.
