With another week flying by since Stef and Lena spoke the cop was really doing the most thinking she had in her entire life. Maybe for the first time ever as images and memories of her past flooded her mind. Laying in her own bed for what was the first time in weeks it was hard to be with herself and to be with her own thoughts. Group had been challenging, therapy had been a bitch and AA had sucked her dry. In her mind she was wondering how things were going to play out in terms of her life and it's direction for she had never really looked at it this hard before. Why was now any different then it was before. Why was now a time to really get more serious then she ever had. Why was now the time? Maybe because she had done a few things she never thought she would. Maybe because she let go of Diane, maybe because she was starting to face her life and what she had dealt with as a kid, maybe because she was looking at Callie who she had really lost more than she could ever like to admit. It was just a few days ago that she had visited her angry teen daughter in Juvie and it left the cop distraught as well as Diane.
"Callie we do care honey and we both want the best for you. Me and your mother." Diane said softly as Callie looked worse then she did the last time. For one she had died her hair black making her look like some goth punk and she was behaving far worse to Diane then Stef had ever seen. Her case worker said she was picking fights with girls and joining in on beating up girls, refused to speak in therapy or group, and had been put into solitary for punching and spitting at a few guards. She was causing a good amount of trouble just as much as she had done at Girls United. Her decline started there when she stole a car again, skipped curfew, stole from a few stores, was caught drinking and smoking pot with a few girls and no longer participated. Robert had come to see her a handful of times but the girl refused saying she wanted nothing to do with him.
"Yeah sure." she said rolling her eyes at the woman she once adored not to long ago as Diane's heart began to sink.
"We do Callie. We love you sweetheart."
"Is this how you want your life to be? In here huh? For petty crimes that can get you some big jail time. Because you know what is after juvie? Huh do you?" The cop said angrily for she knew this kid was not listening.
"Callie you had dreams. You were doing well in school and Girls United. Why throw it all away like this?" Diane said chiming in for she didn't understand how Callie had gone down hill so hard and so fast.
"Why do you care?"
"Because I love you. Because your mother loves you and Jude."
"And so what. I didn't ask you to come I didn't ask either of you to come so piss off Di." If the cop could have smacked her she would have as she looked to Diane who's face grew sadder then she had ever seen.
"Hey! You watch your tone and don't you dare talk to her that way. Don't you ever and don't you dare! You apologize now! Apologize now to her!"
"No. I'm not. Both of you can fuck off. Seriously." Almost jumping off her seat as the girl walked off Di quickly grabbed the cops arm to prevent her from tackling Callie which she most likely was ready to do as the girl was taunting her.
"Can't hit me here they will arrest you Stefanie!" She yelled back as the guard took her away and Stef was ready to kill her.
"What the fuck happened to her Di. What happened to my baby?"
"I don't know honey. I don't."
That day had been rough and Diane had cried in her arms almost all night. However, it wasn't just for that reason for they had talked about the job offer in Boston and it had been one of the most important conversations that they ever had pulling at both of their hearts like nothing ever had in life.
