You sat in the stands with Adam's parents Bruce and Tammy watching the final minutes of the game. Team USA had come to play early, scoring two goals in the first period, then two more in the second, but Finland matched with two of their own in the second and third to tie it up at four.

You and Tammy stood up as you watched Casey and Adam race down the ice on a two-on-one. Casey dished it over to Adam and he went five-hole, putting it the back of the net. You jumped up and down and cheered as you watched Adam celebrate his well-deserved goal with his teammates.

You and Adam had been best friends since you could remember. The two of you were practically inseparable. Where one was, the other followed. You supported Adam and his hockey and he supported you in your own endeavors. You hadn't been able to make to the outdoor game, but you promised Adam you'd make the drive up from Boston to watch him play in his second World Juniors. You drove all morning so you'd make it in time. You didn't get to see Adam before the game, but he understood and was grateful you were here.

The last minute and a half ran out without a goal, securing a win for Team USA. You let crowd thin out a bit before heading down to the locker room by yourself, following the directions Adam gave you, flashing your all-access pass at checkpoints.  You didn't have to wait very long before Adam came out, searching for you, one of the biggest smiles you had ever seen plastered on his face. God, you loved his smile. It could light up a whole room. You'd never tell him, but you loved more than his smile.

Adam made his way to you, almost tackling you in a hug. He picked you up, spinning you around. You wrapped your arms tightly around his neck. "I'm so proud of you." You whispered in his ear. Adam set you back on the ground, but not letting go of you.

"Thank you for being here, I don't think you realize how much it means to me." He whispered back, one arm still wrapped around your waist, his hand holding your hip, sending shock waves through your body. If only he knew what he did to you.

"I wouldn't have missed it for the world, Adam."

"Some of the guys are meeting up at a bar and grill for new years, and I was wondering if you wanted to go with me?" He seemed nervous, more on edge around you. Adam was never that way, he was always laid back.

"I'd love to. Are you gonna pick me up?" You asked as Adam led you down the hall.

"Well, I was thinking we could go back to my room and take a nap before we go. How does that sound?" He asked.

"I need to change, Adam." You said

"You look beautiful, Y/N," You didn't know it but Adam loved when you wore a USA Hockey sweatshirt with a jean jacket that had his name and number painted on it in the Harvard jersey style. "I called you an uber, he's waiting outside for you. Here's my room key, just head up when you get there. I won't be long." He handed me his room key and planted a kiss on my cheek before going back down the hall towards the locker room.
