"Ten— nine— eight—" I could hear him counting from all the way upstairs. My heart pounded out of my chest as I sprinted down the stairs into the basement, shutting the door softly behind me. Looking around anxiously, I dove behind the sofa and shimmied myself lower, completely out of sight.
"Here I come!" I heard him shout.
I evened out my breathing as I rested my head against the wall, taking in deep breaths. The floorboards above me creaked as he descended down the stairs, and they paused at the door. Slowly, they faded away into the kitchen area and I let out a soft sigh of relief.
I turned my head and screamed. "Boo."
"Gah— what the fuck!" I snapped at him, hitting his shoulder. Andy chuckled as he snaked his cold arms around me, pulling me out of my spot and plopping me down onto the couch. Andy sat himself down next to me, his grin never fading. "I win Snowflake."
"You cheated." I eyed him.
"You know I can smell you." He shrugged.
"And you know that's cheating." I pointed a finger at him as I arched a brow. Andy snapped his jaw at my finger, forcing me to jerk back quickly as I shook my head. Andy chuckled as he pulled me onto his lap, his hands locked tight around my waist.
Andy kissed at my neck, running over his marks that he made this morning. I could not help but let out a light laugh as his cold hands ran along my stomach. He leaned forward and tilted my head to the side, bringing his lips to mine for a moment. "I had fun this morning."
"As did I." I murmured back.
It was the beginning of August, meaning we had graduated only three months ago and had college right around the corner. Graduation night was one to remember. Andy's parents flew out from Ohio and watched as their son walked the stage. Andy had no idea they were coming in, but I was the one who told them.
As for the rest of the night, he had bought a hotel room for the night to celebrate. That was my first time— both with him, and in general. From then on, I grew worried that he would turn into the average boy wanting to do it every five seconds. But Andy was genuine, as we all know very much, and only would do it whenever I felt like it.
"You want to come swimming at my house today? I'm having Alex over." I asked him, perching myself on his lap. Andy shrugged and nodded, but quickly asked about my mom.
"She won't be home till later tomorrow."
"Oh, then sure." Andy shrugged.
"Are you excited for college?" I asked.
Andy rolled his eyes and looked away. I grabbed him by the face, forcing him to look at me. His chest rumbled with a laugh as he swatted my hand away, shaking his head at me. He never planned on going to college, but towards the end of the year he actually wanted to apply. He submitted all of his applications a day before the deadline, and somehow got in.
He promised me he had nothing to do with their decisions, and I believed him. Andy had settled on going to the same college as me, half because they had his major and have because he was the jealous type who wanted me close.
Everything had been running smoothly. Jake was nowhere to be seen, and Jason had not bothered us at all after the incident. No one had a clue as to where either of them were, but I was happy and so were the rest of the guys.
My phone buzzed on the couch. I reached over for it but Andy got to it first, answering it on the second ring. "Hey what's up Alex?"
Andy looked at me with a smirk and I told him to give me my phone back. Rolling his eyes, he handed it to me. "Dude, we need to talk."
