Chapter 14

The next day Lauren invited me and Erin round to her house. She sounded rather excited on the phone so I rushed around and by the time I got there Erin was already there.

Lauren looked like she was ready to burst with excitement.

'Guys..... Guess what?!' She said grinning

'You've missed me so much and you're excited I'm here?' I joked

'No' she said

'You've won the lottery' Erin said

'No'

'You-' I started to say

'Stop guessing!' She said '.... Calum asked me out!'

My mouth dropped open as well as Erin's. We sat in silence for a few seconds then started screaming.

'What a stereotypical feminine reaction' I laughed

'This is great!' Beamed Erin 'Luke asked me out on another date for next weekend! We went to the cinema after we left yesterday and he asked me if I was free next Saturday'

We all screamed again and we were all laughing and smiling.

'So Jadey, how's your love life?' Lauren asked

'None existent' I laughed

'Oh don't lie! You and Ashton are clearly more than friends! You don't have to hide it from us' Erin said laughing

'We're not! Seriously guys, were just friends. Nothing more' I said shaking my head

'But you do like him though' Said Lauren

'No'

'Jade. We've been best friends since we were tiny, I know when you like someone'

'Clearly not because you're wrong'

'Okay then' she laughed. But I knew she didn't believe me.

Was it obvious to people that I liked Ashton? If she knew, did everyone else? Did he?

'I better go guys' I said getting up. I said bye and let myself out and walked home.

I was worrying, in case it was obvious that I liked Ashton. I can't believe it. I started walking faster while I was thinking and worrying.

All off a sudden I hit something.

'Ow! Shit' I mumbled

I heard a familiar giggle

'IT'S YOU!' I shouted

'It's me' Ashton laughed

'Where are you going?'

'To get some bread for my mum. Is that okay with you?' He laughed

I just smiled and began to carry on walking. I didn't want to face him due to the embarrassment of him maybe knowing I liked him.

'Are you okay?' He asked walking beside me

'Yeah, why wouldn't I be?' I said quickly

'You're acting very... Strange'

'I'm not'

'Do you want to walk to the shop with me? It's only the one at the end of this road' he asked

'Um... Yeah sure okay' I said tuning around.

I kept my head down while we were walking, I didn't want to look at him.

'Jade. Are you sure you're okay?'

'Great thanks' I said faking a smile

'Look at me'
